Spagunk
Some time ago I posted the test mini for my Sanguinary guard (http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.php?showtopic=199943&hl=) Here are the rest. The number one problem I had was that I could not replicate the wings from my test model. As such, they kind of look like poop. After I finished painting them, I just pretty much said "To heck with this, I'm done" and left them as is. So I apologize for how bad they look. http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j165/spagunk/army%20completed/Sanguard1a.jpghttp://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j165/spagunk/army%20completed/Sanguard1b.jpg ^-- Bar none my favorite one of them all. I like how dynamic he looks and how his face turned out. Probably one of my best models yet. http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j165/spagunk/army%20completed/Sanguard2.jpg ^-- I liked the pose on this one even though the hand position on him doesn't quite match the sword swipe he is doing. http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j165/spagunk/army%20completed/Sanguard3a.jpghttp://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j165/spagunk/army%20completed/Sanguard3b.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j165/spagunk/army%20completed/Sanguard4.jpghttp://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j165/spagunk/army%20completed/Sanguard4banner.jpg ^-- I like how the banner turned out. I started with a blue and then did repeated washes of Baal Red to make the color purple. I was tre impressed when I was done as it looked poop when I was painting the thing. Wasn't until the purple came out that I started feeling good about it. http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j165/spagunk/army%20completed/Captain1.jpghttp://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j165/spagunk/army%20completed/Captain3.jpghttp://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j165/spagunk/army%20completed/Captain2.jpg ^-- And here is my captain. I think overall he is painted the best out of all my minis. The only problem I had was in trying to make the hand flamer yellow. I still need to work on that color. Probably should go out and get a foundation paint with matching GW wash if I want to get serious about doing messing with yellow. I decided to make him a bit more showy than my usual marines as I wanted to do something different. Since his sword arm was miss-matched to his pistol arm, I decided to play with it and make the sword arm gold. Made sense to me because he would probably get hit against his sword arm in battle often enough. Not only that but he would want to make sure that it is well protected and stands out so his opponent doesn't go for the pistol. Let me know what you all think. Cain Tiberius Kondrad
Whoa, love the Purple! Would never of thought of doin it that way, although you can be sure I will now ;) Very nicely painted minis too. My only suggestion (although I appreciate it may be to much work now), would have been to either blend up from the gray/blue to the white on the wings. Or to use several layers of a very watered down blue wash instead, and blend that way. I also love the one gold arm. You could Imagine this as having belonged to a passed Hero an now reveared as a chapter / company relic. :) Good job. Looking forward to more. ;) CTK
evileyevirtue
These guys are really well done. The only thing that actually bothers me is the first guy without the helmet... is he wearing eye shadow? It looks a bit off. Other than that great job! What, you've never seen anti-glare grease on american football players? :P Besides, eye shadow goes on you eye lids, not typically on your cheek. In all seriousness, I found that over doing the black helps to bring out the eyes a little bit better. Otherwise, you hardly see them and the model ends up looking too static. BrotherMoses
Excellent models brother. I would like to really applaud you on the one golden arm thing. Thats probably the coolest thing on a captain I've seen in a while. It really gives him character. Way more than slapping him in some tawdry golden artificer armour would.
