Fenrisian-flavored Reality Check: Dark Heresy Storyline

Recommended Posts

Greetings all, from one of the Forum Ghosts.

I have a Dark Heresy setting that has come to the point of needing to truly answer the question of if it is worth playing out the final battle with miniatures, or not.

To this, the simple recap of my setting is that the Omnissiah has been found, he in turn has been placed into the new human Pantheon, and a great deal of other high-jinks by the party (two friends) has resulted in things going pretty well for the Imperium. The Emperor is off the throne and doing well, it's actually still on and repaired, and a second Astronomicon aboard the Emperor's Battle Barge (crewed by Custodes). The rest of the Pantheon does not include the Emperor, but does include several others.

I wanted to ask what people would think of the stats-conversions, as in Dark Heresy, stats are percentile based, not quite going by the dice and my friends don't understand that percentage wise a dice check would be probability based, meaning they would translate roughly over as direct dice checks. Instead, they want to use the stat-bonus system more accurately, meaning if someone were to have the massive stat percentage of 100 Agility and a x4 multiplier, they basically get I 40! (This would work as any hit scored has to face the dreaded eight dice strong dodge pool check, meaning this thing would be very time consuming.)

I don't get the feeling this will work out as 40K tabletop has no translations that are known at this time for something like this. It's simply a part of the rules that falls through the cracks when it comes up.

The really big thing is that without all the heroes (characters) from the DH setting itself it could be playable, but it still needs the questions answered as to how to deal with this as the armies involved (models wise) are: Space Wolves, Sisters, Dark Eldar, Chaos/Daemonhunters (friend uses both). I was planning on some IG but that's not for this forum, so I can't ask for tips here.

Other question: How many points? I have several characters running around from the various Codeci, and it will help I think to have some money hopefully saved up as I still need to pick up at least six Thunderwolf models (one a Lord). I was expecting 3000, but that could bog down as that's just basic armies. (No one from the Player Character list)

What I could use the most help with is my own list, and whether or not to just go Apocalypse as this could spare a great deal of headaches in the long run. Both of my friends will likely need to do more collecting in the long run, as they lack alot of transports, whereas I have five.

Constructive thoughts/criticisms? I'd like some feedback, but I can't reveal too much right now, on lunch and hoping to see some opinions over the weekend.
