I currently have a large 4th company Ultramarine army, Im a great lover of the books so decided to start collecting the chapter. Unfortunatly after recenltly posting some photos of a previous game I recieved some stick over my companies colours. ;)

:)

Thing is they are MY company and are unique, and thats what makes em mine. Regardless of this I couldnt but feel a little disapointed, so I fanced a change, and thought why not salamanders? I have had a stab at a blackreach model, and have had some great Ideas on convertions using warhammer lizardmenparys, not to mention forge world goodies. ;)

Can any one offer and advise on the chapter,ie convertions, pic, painting advise?

thanks

I'm assuming you want some feedback with the official color scheme in mind, so here goes:

The shoulder pad trim should also be green, and the shoulder pads themselves black (or another color on the right one if you decide you don't want 1st or 2nd company models). The arrow should be yellow, with a black number in it for the squad identification.

You can also include flame patterns as honor markings or as squad markings (replacing the yellow arrow and black number).

As for your test model: I'd try to blackline the eyes a bit. Yellow and green are very close color-wise, and the blackline would really make the eyes stand out.

Otherwise I'd say you're off for a good start :D

good start! as Obliterator said, the official scheme is a bit different, but i use the same as you, and i never had any problems with them

i suggest adding some simple flame motives on the pads, it ads a bit more character and just looks cool. beaky helmet also look good on sergeants and vets

not sure if it'll be helpful, but this is the recipe i use:

-darkangel green base-coat

-two watered-down snot green layers

-a light highlight (or two, if necesery) of scorpion green

and welcome to Nocturne's finest, brother
