Souitenesse
Hello, brothers. I am a long time reader but first time poster. Thanks to this website and its glorious contributers, my painting skills have vastly improved in the last few years. However, I have never been able to find a way to weather black power armour. I paint Black Templars, and they all look like they just came out of the shower. Only weathering I could do is making holes in the armor or scratches, paint 'em with metallics and give them a wash with ye olde Chestnut Ink or more recently Gryphonne Sepia or Ogryn Flesh to simulate rust. However, I would like to know if some people have a more realistic recipe for battle damage that doesn't include scratches made on the mini itself. I am aware of the painted scratches but they require a black lining to simulate the deepness of the scratch...and on black armour I can't seem to figure how to reproduce that. Same for vehicles, weathering black seems harder than other colors. I thank you deeply for your enlightening answers! Tanhausen
If you do scratch the model, maybe a VERY light drybrush with a dark grey and a slight higlight?
