BrotherMoses
Is the current trend in kitting out your marines to go super specialized (hand to hand, shooty, what have you) or to go for a more generalized approach. I've been tending to specialize here lately, but I can remember a time when I was a lot more general with my wargear. For instance, right now I'm brainstorming how to kit out my captain in a cool way. I'm considering modeling him in Sanguard armour with an angelus boltgun (storm bolter), jump pack, and lightning claws. Theres a lot of cool factor in this set up and I'm thinking the reroll to wound will balance out the loss of an attack. What philosophy do you guys follow when buying wargear? Zealadin
People actually use captains? Space Marines are generally good all rounders, troops are good this way, specialist squads however always benefit from further honing. (IMO at least) That being said being able to handle multiple different foes is what wins you games with all round lists. Brother Molon Labe
Nature always punishes the specialist. But in war gaming I have found the specialist is who you want IMO. With jump infantry I have load outs in my army that are for tank busting or anti infantry. Although I do take Sanguinary Guard for character or MC hunting so I guess they are kind of generalists in there own right. I tend not to mix things in my RAS squads either 2 melts or two flamers. This situation is unique though because with Jump infantry you get to choose your battles since they are reliably faster than most other infantry units. So I am not saying this is a universal rule by any means. In a RAS though if I have x2 meltas this means they have both the ability to destroy armor and assault whatever was inside and have a good chance of killing and living through the situation. So In a sence I have created a generalized unit however they don't do things perfectly well but they do 2 things better than most (cracking armor and assaulting). Hope this helps. jeremy1391
i tend to equip all my RAS with double melta and my sarge with a thunder hammer or power fist. Brother Kovash
I'm using 2 assault squads, one with 2 flamers and one with 2 meltaguns. The sergeant for the flamer squad has a power weapon, and the other has a power fist. I'm playing around with the idea of using a land raider crusader for the flamer squad, to give them a lot more firepower before the assault phase.
