now i was reading the codex the other day and i was wondering what would happen if i was to take a wolf lord or battle leader with both the mark of the wulfen and the saga of the warrior born. would that character get D6 + slain enemeis for their attack value or is this against some rule or another.

Yeah but with a wolf lord you are replacing the guaranteed 4 attacks (with more than likely equipped with a wolf claw or frost blade etc...) with the possibility of 7 attacks that might be rend on a roll of a 6. Not sure if I would utilize the points I'm paying for a lord like that. Now I would agree that for a cheap and nasty WGBL or lone wolf, mark of the wulfen might be a tempting investment.

It might be fluffy for you, but it is really a bad idea to put Mark of the Wulfen on your characters, just leave it for your basic troops in Grey Hunter, Wolf Scouts, and Sky Claws packs. For them, it is a benefit as it increases average number of attacks, and gives them Rending. Your characters, however, already come with a decent number of attacks (especially Wolf Lords and Wolf Guard Battle Leaders), and have options to get weapons that always ignore armour saves. Why would you take an option that only ignores armour saves on a to-wound roll of 6+, when you could have a weapon that always ignores armour saves?

Additionally, since getting good use out of Saga of the Warriorborn relies on your ability to cause casualties, in order to get up into the teens on your attacks, you are going to need to prevent your victims from saving against your wounding hits.
