Wolf Standards

Recommended Posts

I would think the regular back-pack banners could work as well. It always seemed kind of silly to me that the Wolf Standards presented in the codex, despite basically being a squad banner, are the same size as the Great Company ones. As long as you make it clear to your opponent, I don't see why it shouldn't work.

While I use C:SW rules, I do my own DIY Chapter. To represent my "Wolf Standards" I have guys with brass rods sticking out of their backpacks, and heads of various enemy models mounted on them (i.e. battle trophies). I could see the Space Wolves potentially doing the same as well.

so far i have only completed one wolf banner, i used the goblin wolf riders standard. any of the more barbaric fantasy races provide decent enough standards for representing wolf banners.

this leaves the actual space marine banner to be used as a great company banner without it looking like just another wolf banner. make sense? sooo tired

Whoops, forgot about this thread.

If you get one of those nifty Warhammer Fantasy banners, how does that work? Do you stick a goblin arm on your marine, or do you have to also track down a marine "banner arm" to use with the fantasy banner? Thanks...

The banner pole from the goblin should be sufficient [though I am assuming this]. If it is not, you'll need to go on the net and buy a Marine arm with banner pole.

Cut the pole from the goblin hand, top and bottom.

Drill straight through the Marine's hand [whatever arm suits what look you want], drill into the banner pole [both the bottom and the top parts].

This will take skill and patience.

Cut a paper clip. The paper clip 'pin' goes through all three parts and combined with super glue [which you put into all three parts and the contact areas between the three parts] will give a strong bond.

As with all Marines, use PVA glue to stick a washer into the base, to get the centre of gravity down low.

I also use the banner from the goblin wolf rider kit from the fantasy range. I simply mounted the banner on the top of a piece of wire cut from a coat hanger, and drilled out a regular marine fist that would regularly hold a bolter/boltpistol. This eliminates the need to find an elusive banner arm, and still looks fine.
