Slyen
A few photos showing my progress with this commission:http://i347.photobucket.com/albums/p456/pigofsparta/Commission%20Work/SangGuard4.jpghttp://i347.photobucket.com/albums/p456/pigofsparta/Commission%20Work/SangGuard3.jpghttp://i347.photobucket.com/albums/p456/pigofsparta/Commission%20Work/SangGuard2.jpg Just wondering, what color of blue did you use on the lighter part of the wings? The top of them is what I am meaning. KhornateKiller
James, They look fantastic mate, The gold really looks good mate I love them, I would happily pay for them if that was my commission ;) As for the wings sir 3200 feathers !!!!!!! They look GREAT and the reason why yours look 3000 times better than my attempt at white wings ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/208523-blood-angels-sanguinary-guard-commission/page/2/#findComment-2524272 Share on other sites
Pig Of Sparta
@ Slyen: the whole wing was painted Ice Blue and then I washed the feathers with Asurmen Blue to shade them. So to answer your question it was Ice Blue, followed by Space Wolves Grey with the final highlights done with Skull White, finally the whole wing surface was glazed with (heavily) watered down Asurmen Blue to tie all the layers together. @ KK: cheers mate. I think the Mithril that I added really made them work. I'm sure there's probably a better way to paint those wings, but I couldn't think of it. I wanted the feathers to have as much effort put into them as the rest of the mini's which is why they were layered so many times. Just need it to stop raining now so I can get on with the squad of Vanguard Veterans that go with them... Liath
May I ask how you did this wonderful gold effect ? I have a sanguinor waiting patiently until I find a good gold recipe... Anyway, really nice minis, even if i'm not a fan of these blades ^^ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/208523-blood-angels-sanguinary-guard-commission/page/2/#findComment-2524994 Share on other sites
Hemal
I'd hazard a guess at scorched brown blended up through dwarf bronze to shining gold with mithril highlights? Pig Of Sparta
Thanks Liath. Hemal's almost right, it's Brazen Brass, followed by a layer of Dwarf Bronze that left the Brazen Brass in the recesses. I then shaded it with watered down Scorched Brown and Chaos Black (in a 1:1 ratio mix) before addinganother layer of Dwarf Bronze. The armor was then glazed with watered down Scorched Brown before the final harsh highlight with Mithril Silver. I wanted a nice warm gold for the armour to contrast with the colder white wings :P.
