bloodancient
So here's the dilemma 1st game of planetstike and i have to defend fine i can handle that. Then through in apocolypse. I can see it now 15 Nids running across the board and all i have to defend it is 2 full devs and an annillator. For back up a squad of Termies in a crusader and 3 Tacs. We have 3000 points to use but this little list doesn't sound very BA to me right now and for some reason i can't think of how to really take the fight to them which is were the rest of my force really shines. I still have anothercrusader which i usually run a VV in with a preist, VV with JP, 2 full Assualt with JP, 2 tornadoes and a typhoon, 2 rhinos, sang gaurd, 1/2 stern with stormbolters 1 attack bike with melta, 5 man DC(plain), 2 JP Priests, a JP capt. (don't use much) and last but definately not least the reclusiarch any idea's. oh and i'm bringing my own Fortress of Redemption.
jeremy1391
Fast vindies are king! Nothing like moving twelve inches and blasting stuff. As the planetstrike defender u have six heavy support choices u can do a ton of damage with six strength ten pie plates that are constantly moving..... Just saying. SnorriSnorrison
As a Blood Angel, charging your enemy is your best defense. Just use VV and attach characters to them(because they are Jump-infantry they may assault after DS if I am correct on this one, so you don´t need HI), assault Squads, DC and fill the rest with Vindicators. Hold your army in reserve, and try to get them down in turn 2, assault what you can lay your blood-red hands on and wreck some havoc. 3 Vindicators may also help with pesky Warriors or other stuff. Just my thoughts, may be a funny game if you switch roles with your oppoent. :P Snorri
Morticon
Dependin on the enemy ive found that planet strike tends towards more aggressive armies on the attack. very few armies deepstrike in only to shoot from far. As a result, I'd strongly, strongly consider DC/Chap(rhino), and furioso/DC dreads for the most part. Get yourself a vindy or two as suggested - as this will mean that your opponent is forced to either run with his squad and spread out, or take a pie plate in the face if he wants to shoot at you. Maintain your mobility though, TAC squads in rhinios can work nicely, jumpers can work nicely. at 2k id be looking at something like: Reclusiarch furioso - talons 8DC- PF - Rhino DC dread - talons 10 tac- lascan, mg, pf - rhino 10 ras - pf, 2xmg Baal Vindy Vindy + whatever else you wanna fit in. Maybe more fire support, or more bodies in the mix.
R0N1N
Can't comment on Planetstrike as I've not really played any yet, but with Apocalypse I've found that Dreads are king... Last Apoc I ran with 6 Dreads in pods all with Frag cannons, manga grapples and Melta guns. They were supported by squads of CC termies that can deepstrike in and some stormravens, and MM attach bikes... My HQ's were Dante and Astorath, and most of my army raged so it was Furious Charge all over the place. Dante dropped with a Honour guard squad with Perdition pistols and took out a Defence Lazer. astorath dropped with another Honour Gaurd Squad and took out a lot of stuf with Plasma guns... I did not even play Vindy's or dreads... I was so in the face of my enemy they could not risk and D-wapons from the titans :P all in all it was fun. The sotrmravens can put out a lot of hurt with their bloodstrike missiles... Anyway, at 3000pts you can have some great fun with BA, and can be all over your enemy, no matter what they've got! Enjoy the games and remember to have fun. I usually take fun lists to Apoc games and have discovered a few nice tricks that BA have that ishelping me in my games. So take a chance and play that EXPENSIVE 900pt unit, see how it does, and see the surprise on your opponents face as they realise they have nothing that can kill it before it starts eating up their army :tu:
bloodancient
I appreciate it guys and I think I might take that 900 pt unit you suggest. vindies would be great but the metagame here is usually MC heavy when it comes to any kind of apoc. Always lots of hive tyrants, carnifex, and greater and lesser demons very few troops walking around. how ever I was able to claim an objective last time as a assualt serg survived a monster Stompa attack that took the rest of the squad and a BT assault squad. That really pissed him off on the last turn. Oh and deepstrike troops only get to assault the turn they arrive for the attacker not the defender. They are always fun games to play though. I'll just have to find a way to attack from a defended position. Thanks again
jeremy1391
As to go along with the vindies I proposed earlier I am also an advocate for flame storm Baal predators with heavy bolter sponsons , mainly because deepstriking units are nice and clustered ;) and that strength 6 ap3 template will eat those units up.... Or they will at the very least prove a deterent to deep strikers.
thundrchickn
Just played my first planetstrike game this morning and if you're scared reserve your entire army. HE can deepstrike everything in his army on turn 1 which is automatically his since he's attacking. Your turn 1 you can roll reserves and come in on a 3+. If your rocking JP troops you can reroll failed reserves. Zoom all you're tanks on you're table edge and fast tank shoot the bejesus out of him. YOU MUST TAKE A FLYING LIBRARIAN OF SOME SORT. Preferably I'd say a terminator Epistolary w/ storm shield and sword/WoS for powers. Team him up with a JP SP and DS behind his tyranofexes or whatever. You get to assault after your DS so Sword/force weapon MCs of the board. I'm personally a tank guy so I brought 13 tanks total(3500 points) of our teams 7500 and filled as much of our ground with tanks to force DS mishaps. If your nid opponent goes horde take the pylon strat to force all his gaunts to take DT tests when he crosses into wherever you decide to stand your ground. The PoTMS upgrade to bastions is nice to so you wont have to man them to shoot them and take the battle cannon too. Take 1 vindicator in you entire army and put it on the ouside of your army setup preferrably outside your pylon setup. Your nid friend will be like " hehe I'm gonna kill your vindy because you put it way out here and it can kill lots of nids" then you battle cannon the snot out of him because he dedicated a lot of firepower to that area of the field. Make sure to leave lots of open terrain over there to give him a nice landing spot far from the bulk of your army. REMEMBER YOU GET TO SET UP ALL TERRAIN AND PLACE YOUR ARMY FIRSTSO USE IT TO YOUR ADVANTAGE. Shoot him to pieces when he lands in that area to kill your vindy and then footslog to you through the pylons. Don't leave any open space for your opponent to DS anywhere else without mishapping. The rest is blood angels as normal. Get the charge, cut them to pieces and drink the blood of your enemies...or a strawberry yoohoo if that's what floats your boat. My teammates were blown away that I called every move our opponents made today and by turn 3 we had annhilated 5000 points of demons and the third member(korne chaos) over committed his 2000 odd points to an objective we place out in no mans land while we had our tank squadron ubble wrapping 3 objectives. Think about who you're playing and what their style is and predict their moves and punish them for every move they make.
bloodancient
Very nice i'll take that into consideration. And your right can't find the flaw there it's going to be a bit of a pick up game so won't know exactly what my teamates will bring but every Imperium fighter has to have tanks right and once we establish some line fit the flank or the back and do my thing yea sounds good Thanks again guys.
