Rakene
So I'm planning an 8K army list for an Apocalypse game and as usual wanted to take my Warlord and my Reaver, knowing my opponent will probably be taking a pair of Reavers tooled up for super heavy hunting. Last time I saw them used it was with twin Meltacannons and Turbo laser on one. And Dual Laser Blasters and Turbo laser on the other. My first instinct was to take Gerald, my girlfriends Hierophant to deal with these, but decided it was unfluffy to side them with my other titans. Then decided I should create a Thunderhawk, but again seems unfluffy to play an army composed entirely of titans, thunderhawk and masters of the chapter. I finally settled on the (perhaps silly idea) of going all Titan. So how does this fetch people: Prosterno Vestri Dies Warlord Battle Titan 2500 points Arm Weapons - Volcano Cannon - Plasma Destructor (or Warlord equivalent if this if the Emperor version) Carapace Weapons - Double Barrelled Turbo-Laser - Vortex Missile Baracas Reaver Battle Titan 1450 points Arm Weapons - Laser Blaster - Meltacannon Carapace Weapons - Apocalypse Missile Launcher Unnamed Warhound Scout Titan 750 points Arm Weapons - Double Barrel Turbo-Laser - Plasma Blastgun Adustum Infidelitas Warhound Scout Titan 750 points Arm Weapons - Double Barrel Turbo-Laser - Hellstorm Cannon (or whatever the flamer is called) Leo Paladin Knight Titan 400 points Scorpio Lancer Knight Titan 400 points Taurus Lancer Knight Titan 400 points Cancer Warden Knight Titan 400 points Aries Warden Knight Titan 400 points Master of the Forge 140 points - 3 servitors Techmarine 110 points - Servo Harness - 3 servitors Techpriest Enginseer 90 points - 3 servitors Techpriest Enginseer 90 points - 3 servitors Any C&C welcome. The Knights are taken from the Cult Mechanicus codex, techmarines/priests are taken from Space Marine and Guard codices as I thought I better use official rules where appropriate. Knights are being built using papercraft mechwarrior plans as bases, because they look cool. Warhounds are under constructing, Reaver and Warlord Weapons are interchangeable as they're magnetized, I also have a Gatling Blaster and Reaver TCCW available, and can build more weapons if people think alternatives would be better. I also have about a hundred points still unspent, wanted to buy a pair of chimera's for the techpriests but don't think I can as they can't take them as dedicated transports. Ideas? Chapter Master Ignis Domus
Money...Money...Everywhere :D I cannot offer any critique but this: Give the MotF a Conversion Beamer and bike and have him zap minor targets unworthy of Titan targetting. Leave repairs to the lesser techies. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/208569-mechanicus-apocalypse-army-list/#findComment-2578920 Share on other sites
Vor
Apoc doesn't follow the FOC so I've always assumed dedicated transports can be bought independently of a unit, not that I've ever had the need or desire to do so. So you shouldn't have issue taking them for the techies. dswanick
One tactic which works well for me involves using the IA 7 Reaver Titan Maniple. It allows you to re-roll any misses from your Reavers if a Warhound has already scored a hit on the target. Plus I personally run my Warhounds with Plasma Blastgun/Vulcan Mega-bolter as this practically garauntees that the VMB will drop most of the Reavers void shields, and the PBG can either put an extra Str 10 hit on or can be rapidfired for a chance to drop a stubborn VS. Then, because you hit with a Warhound you can safely unleash you AML to drop any remaining void shields and Str D from your Reaver without any fear of missing. As I run my Reaver with 2X Laser Blasters and Apoc Missile Launcher I have successfully annihilated two enemy Warhounds and Immobilized and stripped all the weapons off an enemy Reaver in a single shooting phase. EDIT: At the request of the damned artificer, here is a link to a small photo gallery from my Apoc event, along with my favorite shot of that gallery. http://s1127.photobucket.com/albums/l634/dswanick/ http://i1127.photobucket.com/albums/l634/dswanick/IMG_0621.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/208569-mechanicus-apocalypse-army-list/#findComment-2579847 Share on other sites

dswanick
And here's the main reason I was able to do so much titan killing in one shooting phase. My opponent nestled his Reaver right behind one of his Warhounds, hoping to provide his big boy a cover save. Bwahahaha, Str D. Used One Warhound to strip some of the shields off the Reaver. Used the Reavers Apoc Missile Launcher to seal the deal and strip the shields of his Warhound. Then the Reaver with it's two Laser Blasters, the template positioned such that it covered some of each model and I re-rolled all bad scatters thanks to the Titan Legion Maniple Formation. Net result - the Warhound went nuclear and the Reaver was left with half it's SP, no weapons, and it's drive shot. http://i1127.photobucket.com/albums/l634/dswanick/IMG_0627.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/208569-mechanicus-apocalypse-army-list/#findComment-2581587 Share on other sites
Rakene
Gah, I stopped checking this thread because I didn't have any replies for ages. I was also under the impression that I could just take dedicated transport in Apoc without having to have a unit for them too but my girlfriend disagreed. I both can't be bothered to convert a MotF on a bike with a beamer and would really prefer he stood beneath the Warlord. The Techmarine will be standing beneath the Reaver with one Techpriest with each Warhound, though I may change this as they may attempt to potter about and flank stuff. The first Warhound's Turbo Laser is probably going to become a Vulcan Mega Bolter. I shall look in to this Reaver Maniple, I have IA7 knocking around somewhere. Thanks for the replies.
