Sons of Horus
early in the novel it mentions something about the Vindicare having an astartes as one of his confirmed kills... I'm guessing he killed that one before the Heresy broke out and if so, what does that imply exactly? Doghouse
Could be a reference to one of the lost legions but on the other hand it may have been a simple case of corruption in the fledgling Imperium. I expect even back then there were forces operating in the shadows with their own agendas. overlordjebus
Could even have been on Prospero, since Prospero happened before Istvaan III right? Horus Lupercal
I believe it could be a reference to the assassination of the Night Haunter, I believe it was a Vindicare that did him in, but I'm pretty sure they wouldn't refer to him as an Astarte. Roland Durendal
A Callidus M'Shen killed Night Haunter. As for the Vindicare, interesting point. Could have been a Thousand Son during their early mutation stages. (i.e. before Magnus was united with them and he made the pact with Tzeentch) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/208574-clade-vindicare-in-nemesis/#findComment-2489299 Share on other sites
Horus Lupercal
Thanks Roland, I couldn't remember exactly which sect did him in, and I remember from DoW now that the Vindicare is all about that sniper rifle of theirs. =) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/208574-clade-vindicare-in-nemesis/#findComment-2489334 Share on other sites
Lord Tharand
Nemesis takes places two years after the heresy starts so I'm sure there is plenty time in there for a Vindicare to pop the head off a rebel captain or two. Doghouse
Yeah that's probably what it was then. :whistling: They'd barely started their march to Terra at that point so there would be plenty of opportunity like you say. mob16151
A Callidus M'Shen killed Night Haunter. As for the Vindicare, interesting point. Could have been a Thousand Son during their early mutation stages. (i.e. before Magnus was united with them and he made the pact with Tzeentch) *Spoiler* In Nemesis, M'Shen is offered up by the head of the Callidus Temple, as an assassin who could kill Horus. Sons of Horus
but then the Eversor and Callidus find it difficult to believe that he did such a thing until later on in the novel. and why was it such a secret then? Kell says "a Clade's missions are its own agenda." or something like that.
