Dr Duck
With all the new FW armours available, i've decided to finally add a unit of Fallen to my Chaos Marine army (It will give my DA force an even better reason to fight them :D ) The question is which MK armour is the best to use? I reckon it's most likely to be MK4 as i doubt the they would have rushed the latest MK5 out to a garrison prior to the Heresy and certainly not during. However given that Caliban was the first encountered its possible that it got kitted out with only MK2 and never had chance to get upgraded. Having not read any of the books some input would be appreciated. If left purely to asthetics i'm planning to go for MK 5 and use a DA should pad pack as i've never held my stock in the quality of transfers Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/208596-fallen-angel-armour/ Share on other sites
Captain Conrad
From what i gather it could be anything from MK 2-4, although i think MK4 would more likely be given to those in favour with the Lion rather than those sitting at home getting bitter. Tomevans
The older the better with the Fallen, CC is right, the newer stuff would have been sent to the frontlines first, leaving Caliban a very distant 2nd on the priority stakes. Mk II armour is probably the best to choose, but Mk III might be a good idea too. Pick one of those and you can't go wrong. Interrogator Stobz
I recommend that you purchase any of the Mk 2-4 armour that you mentioned. Then proceed directly to cell room 49/0076/sub level Delta for cleansing under the caring eye of a local Interrogator Chaplain. They are available 24/7 to service your traitorous needs. I should however inform you that no mark of armour will save your soul, only if you repent will your death be swift. Hemal
Mk4 was superior - supposedly the best suit out tehre but it was expensive and used all sorts of exotic materials, Mk5 was the compromised developed during the Heresy to requip the legions more cheaply, pending Mk6 and Mk7 availability. Mk2 or Mk4 could be appropriate, though Mk3 would be used by assault squads and ship-to-ship boarding teams Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/208596-fallen-angel-armour/#findComment-2490541 Share on other sites

Vodunius
Unless theres been a retcon that I've missed then 'the fall' happened when The Lion and his cronies returned to Caliban at the end of the Scouring, it isn't much of a stretch to suppose some shipments of armour would have reached them by then, either hand-me downs from the crusading DA who had re-equipped with better suits or even brand new suits from Mars - remember that Caliban would have been an irrelevant location during the Heresy itself, but once the Scouring progressed and the traitors were driven back into the Eye of Terror it would have become a vital bastion in keeping them there. Dr Duck
I leaning further towards the MK4 stuff myself as on reflection by the time we get to post heresy fall we are in the 4-5-6 era. Also on a practical note i want to use replacement shoulder pads and the MK4 ones are pretty plain where as the MK 2&3 are a cool part of the armour itself. Finally i'm also planning a pre-herasy death guard squad as an addendum to my normal deathgaurd CSM army and i'm defiantly feeling MK2 and MK3 for them and it would be a shame not to get to do 3 different sets of this stuff.
