plaguereaper
Once I saw the new Forgeworld pre-heresy models, I knew I had to make a squad. I decided on the Luna Wolves because of the first two books in the heresy series. So I ended up ordering a 5man squad of the mk4s, some jump packs from chapterhouse, and some chainswords and bolt pistols. I've come accross a problem, how to paint them. I wanted to go for the color that is on the cover of the first two heresy books, but I dont know where to go with it. (it doesnt help that I am partly color blind) I started off with one of the new foundation paints, dhebeb stone, and then a black wash. Where should I go from here?? I dont know what paints to use to acheive the color I want. Also, does anyone know what colors they used when they changed from Luna Wolves to Sons of Horus? Help with either color scheme would be greatly appreciated. (and yes i used the search function, but couldnt find any good related articles) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/208662-luna-wolves-painting-help/ Share on other sites

The armor is described as pearlescent white. You could experiment with using a pearl finisher such as this or you could just use paints and go for a a mid-layer of cream and highlight up to pure white (or whatever level of highlighting you choose) if you want a less literal pearlescent white. Using an extremely light glaze of a rainbow of colors followed by a wash of white could give a pearl effect too. The Sons of Horus had an off green, almost dark mintish, color. I've seen it described as metallic mint in some places and one person following that protocol used a dark metallic base and then a series of green washes. The first four images are from the Index Astartes article.
