Allerka
So, I'm thinking of building a Land Raider specifically to serve as a transport for my Chapter Master, ala the Land Raider "Maximus" made for Marneus Calgar, complete with my own (hopefully) super-duper conversions. So, I'm basically looking for some ideas/feedback on what I can possibly do. For reference, here's some pics of Maximus: http://www.ifelix.co.uk/images982/IMG_1763.jpg http://www.ifelix.co.uk/images982/IMG_1763_1.jpg http://www.ifelix.co.uk/images993/DSC00121.jpg http://www.ifelix.co.uk/images982/IMG_1764.jpg Mine, however, would best be done as a Redeemer, as, with my Chapter Master being in Terminator Armor, along with his five bodyguards, they wouldn't fit in a regular Land Raider. One obvious idea that comes to mind is, I've decided to implement a bit of a reptile/dragon theme with my Chapter, and thus converting the flamestorm cannons to look like dragon heads might be something worth looking into (maybe get a couple heads from the Fantasy line to mount on them), kind of like the Chaos Marine tanks, but bigger. I don't think I want to go with any sort of hides or skins mounted on the vehicle, as that gets too close to Space Wolf territory, and I don't want to just make my Chapter "Space Dragons" as it were. I'm wondering about some of the Forge World accessories to help save me some work on spicing it up. Though, from the Land Raider doors, the only ones that'd be viable are the generic aquila and Crux Terminatus ones. An extra armor kit could be something as well, for helping it stand out (I already got one before, for my Prometheus). Other than that, I'm drawing blanks at the moment, so I figured I'd see if I could talk it over with someone, try and get the juices flowing, so to speak. Any thoughts or questions, please share. Hemal
Right: 1) For the Land Raider, determine the theme - the Maximus is Greco-Roman, so has bass-reliefs, collonades and classical arches. You can see on Maximums that the reinforced armour has been achieved by smoothing out large sections o fteh tank armour, to give space for those details mentioned above, I'd recommend a similar approach as it gives you less fiddly bits to work with. As for extravangance and ornate detailing... You could use High Elf Dragon parts (maybe use the Dragon Heads as the gun shields from the High Elf plastic dragon kit? And other parts which would be nice are a few Dark Elf sea dragon cloaks draped over parts of the superstructure. I appreciate you don;t want to make it too draconic, so maybe a few mosaics or reliefs similar to Maximus would not go amiss as well Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/208688-chapter-command-land-raider/#findComment-2490162 Share on other sites
Allerka
Good points. I'll have to think about the theme a little. My Chapter isn't really based on any present-day or historical Earth cultures, so I can't really do any research there. But I can probably come up with something based on the Chapter's culture itself. I was thinking about the mosaics as well, but, to be honest, my freehand ability is somewhat limited. I'm not sure I could pull off anything that intricate, unless I was somehow able to make them decals (and I do have the paper and sealant for it). Hemal
Decals could work, but you'd have to get teh scales spot on, and ensure that the backing was painted in a suitable grout-type pattern...
