Here is my strike force which want to use for my next tourney end of August and I have thought it will a good opportunity to show some of my minis. I hope you like it and sorry if the pictures aren't that good because I'm not the best photographer.

This is a really nice comprehensive force. You've used bold colours which really shows up each wing well.

If you want my 2 cents, id say you need a bit more shading on some of the lighter areas. They look a little flat. Also I think im giving up varnish for the same reason I'd critique yours here - it just seems to dull stuff and overshine other bits.

Other than that great work!

Good to see some painted minis :) And even better that I can actually see them 8don't know why many times it appears as the broken link).

I agree that some surfaces are a bit flat (the Deathwing dreadnought is probably the most obvious) that with a soft wash of Gryphone Sepia would do much better (or with layering if you're a good painter).

A for the varnish, I agree that is looks a bit "reflective"... but that's easy to "anti-shine" with some mat varshing sparying for example.

Congrats for a nice looking army!

I love the lettering on the Dreads. Is that paint or decals?

As to the varnish, if you want the shine on some parts (e.g., wet blood spray) but not others (e.g., skin) you might consider paint-on finishes. Testors makes paintable versions of both glosscote and dullcote. I like to do one complete coat of glosscote followed by two coats of dullcote on all but the select areas that I want to keep glossy.

@con-fusion

The "new" venerable dreads come with all those names "carved" into the plastic.

It seems you got con-fused ...

...

sorry, couldn't help it xDDDDDD

If I remember properly, all those names are for Ultramarines campaigns.

Heh... Err... Right. :ermm:

Pardon the con-fusion. :P

My dreads all look like this: Stuff of Legends -- RT Dreads

Thanks for the feedback so far. :woot:

The shining could be a topic but for me it is important to protect the paint job and I have used gloss all the time and I like it.

Sammy took quite a recovery from this.

What do you mean with that? This is unclear for me.

Very nice looking minis here Maxamato, I like your clean style with the Deathwing although I agree they could do with a tiny bit more shading. Have you tried using Matt varnish instead of the gloss? It may help to tone down the shiny parts of the models, but apart from that great work. Will you post any more models in the future?
