Skyclaws! Your verdict on them.

I tried them for a few games and found better alternatives to what they can do. If you tank hunt with them they have BS3 and less fist swings, so land speeder typhoon does it better and cheaper.

As fast combat unit i'd rather take lots of fen wolves or pay the points for thunder wolves. fen wolves will bring cheap numbers and more speed while thunder wolves will hit like a freight train.

With a wolf priest their potential is vastly increased, but then I want points on a rune priest and wolf lord. So I while I agree they are a cool unit they are hard to fit in and do one job very well. The fact they cant have a wolf guard doesnt help their cause either.

I'm a huge jump pack fan having lots of raven guard too, but they are a required taste in the wolf dex. You should always try a unit though for yourself, one mans failure is another mans game winning unit.

I have revised my list to exclude the WGPL and now count two ten man packs...one with plasma gun and one with melta gun...I use em as flanking units picking on and holdin what ever they can to keep the enemy tied to the center...then I launch my scout attacks to cover them and generaly come out on top...(this tactic has worked for me four out of 5 times against other SM chapters/players...) dunno how they would fare against say a horde army...but am looking forward to trying it...they have also failed miserably when it comes to taking an objective and holding until I could get relief to them...while being fun to play there's just not enough punch for the buck so to speak...I miss my WGPLs...damn you GW

Plasma gun? Plasma pistol I could understand (although a meltagun or flamer would be of more use) but a plasma gun would stop you charging if you fired it.

I might make a second pack, to be lead by my jump pack Wolf Guard Battle Leader. I have enough old metal assault marines for the job I think.

I guess it depends really, Thunder Wolves are obiviously better then for the 300 point range, which is what maxed out skyclaws tend to do.

That being said, not tried a Typhoon yet, and I imagine the Space Wolves would find it an ideal assignement for those rebelious blood claws. High speed? Check, suicidally Light Armour? Check. High risk missions drawing all sorts of terrible firepower? Check. Sounds a match made in heaven to me. XD

Though it's Grey Hunters (fortunately) who pilot them :verymad:

Blood Claws still only have a permit, they need more behind the wheel time with some long fangs before they are ready to drive into the battlefield.

Perhaps.

That being said, nothing saying my wolf lord will let the blood claws fly them. Fire and Forget missles and multmelta/heavy flamer madness sounds right up a blood claws street, and keeps the Grey Hunters grounded and we be bothered when they are shot down. XD

That being said, not quite sure if I trust them fully in those things... XD
