Talon Darkshade
Brothers of Caliban, It is with a heavy heart to say I am a Fallen. Not in the sense one who followed Luther into oblivion. I have fallen because I lost faith in the Chapter. Long ago, some 10 years ago, I adorn the dark green of the chapter. I wore the colors with pride and honor taking bolters to battle to stop those who would silence the will of the Emperor's light. When did my faith fade I cannot know exactly. My ire grew as I saw chapter after chapter strip what we held close for thier own uses. I should have seen it as pride that so many chapters needed what we had to make themselves better, instead I took it in jealous and distain. My path took me to armors of Blue, Reds and even dare I saw....Grey. The taints of xenos and chaos still hover around my air. Yet in my times of battle away from the Chapter I was never statisfied. I never got that same swell of honor and pride I had before. To late I realized I had suffered the curse of a bandwagoner. Your discussions as of late here have reminded me like a seering knife of my roots. I seek not forgiveness for I shall forever bear the weight of bandwagon realized. I merely wish to express in a sense of poetic justice that I am placing myself on a path of penance. From this day forth, in an effort to provide apology to you and the rest of the Sons of the Lion I have tasked myself with the painting of an entire company of my former Chapter. I can only hope this act will be enough to expunge even a glimmer of the taint that hovers over me even now. Till the Sword is one once again, Brother Talon Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/208828-a-oath-from-a-fallen/ Share on other sites

I am looking forward to this fully painted Company with pictures. How about when you start, till when you finish? Will you be playing with this company? I assume you will be using C:DA? BlackSpike
Welcome Back, Brother! There are none so Fallen that they cannot repent, and all are welcomed back to the fold. (after a friendly debriefing). Only those who accept Chaos into their Heart are Damned. There is no shame in recognising the Honour of our Brothers In Arms, (even the Mutant Wolfs and the Mutant Sanguines, ... ;) ), and the only True Shame is to recognize ones mistakes and refuse to learn from them. We all carry heavy hearts, but this just strengthens us for the battles to come, in The Emperor's name! Looking forward to seeing your new Company! Talon Darkshade
I stand right now working on tester models to get the colors right. Alot has changed in painting technics and medians since I was once a Dark Angel. As soon as a get a good tester model up I will post. As it stands right now first on the docket is a 10 man assault squad (left over from my Red days). I will post pics as modesl and squads are completed. Yes I do plan on playing them with the DA book. Though a bit broke and outdated compared to others I see glimmers of hope in a defensive style army so time and dice rolls will tell on that front I am however left with an undecided choice. I have no idea what company to do between 3rd and 5th. Seeing as the only real choice is company badge. I have yet to find any fluff or names of the companies to inspire me to go one way or another. This way if your colour scheme is a little different, then the fluff is, it's an Unforgiven chapter so don't have to stick the the exact colour scheme. Talon Darkshade
No I haven't forgotten my oath. Since last I posted a local GW Store, "teams tourney" opened up that a friend of mine and I enrolled in. He was going to bring his SW and I was going to dust off my Ravenwing (lists were 1250 a piece). So instead of doing as the oath decreed I took some time and refurbished some of my Ravenwing to a table ready standard for the tourney. Our lists were pretty straight forward. I would crack the shells he would eat the nuts inside. His list: Wolf Lord on Thunderwolf, Frost Axe, Storm Shield, Warrior Born 2 x 8 Man Grey Hunters w/ Wulfen, Flamer, Banner w/ WC WG & an attached Rune Priest w/ LL and another power. w/ 2 Rhinos 1 x 10 man Grey Hunters (same gear) w/ PF WG & Rune Priest w/ LL and Storm caller (This was our home base squad) My List Sammel in Speeder 6 man bikes w/ 2 Melta and PF w/ MM AB 6 man bikes w/ 2 Flamers and PW w/ MM AB 3 man bikes w/ 2 Melta, Apth and PW w/ MM AB 3 x Landspeeders with MM and HF. For the most part we thought we had it down our only concern was truely horde lists due to our "Meh to Low" Model count. An low and behold what happened Game 1. We got pitted against a team of 2 Ork Hordes. I didn't get to see thier lists but I believe there was between them: 5 20 man squads 1 Dread 1 Buggy 3 Nob Bikers w/ Boss Biker 1 Nob PK on foot Snikrot and some Kommandos 1 Deffkoopta 3 Grootza Kans Battle wagon with Big Mek and KFF The game was played on a 4 x 4 (limited room in the venue and over 25+ team sign ups) The game was objective based with 1 marker dead center and one in each of our deployment zones. We place ours on deep back right. They placed theirs parrelel on thier deep back left. We started deployed Castled up on home base objective w/ 2 Speeders outflanking. They had so much to deploy they kept 2 full squads in reserve and Snikrot. Our plan was simple. So many orks means protect our base and contest anything they control as they would have numbers to control 2 objectives easily. Turn 1: They started (we failed to seize, I blamed the pup). They just pushed thier horde over to us, everything ran and vehicles moved 12 and took pop shots. Nothing landed. Our turn 1 I shifted 2 ABs to my left to draw away some of his army and took 2 shots at his Deffkoopta and sent it crashing to the ground. Most melta shots on his running Dread but only managed three 1's giving it a shaken (this was to be a running theme for our game). I also took Sammuel out 6' forward and about 3 to our right clearly open and exposed to the orks (intentional). Turn 2: Orks moved forward again taking thier runs, 2 of thier boy squads feel for it and devaited away from the central objective to run after the ABs. The 4 x 4 board is 60% green and red, and it was a desert world board. Snikrot appeared in our back lines and assualted my flamer bikers. Grootzookas blue up 3 of bikes out of my melta squad leaving to 2 meltas and my PF sergant. The Nob bikers and some shootas took aim at Sammuel and after rolling to hit realized who it was and didn't bother the wound (that trick worked atleast). Our turn Samuel and Speeder fleed to our deployments Mid field. Giving me more space before being assaulted (but not by much). The deco ABs moved 12" right leaving the chasing orks stranded (giving us 1 more turn where half the orks were not going to be in CC). 2 Reserve speeders came in the back behind Ork lines and on top of Ork Home objective. The wolves disembarked and moved towards the in range ork lines unfortuantely my friend was alittle over zealous with living lightinging and shooting and after 23 dead orks his assualt was no longer in range. But the wolf lord was and charged the nob bikers having faith in his increased toughness and stormshield on a weakened ork biker squad. This was a fatal mistake on our part cause little did we know but one of these ork's on Bikes was a Boss (again we never saw lists only organizers did, and with only 1.5 hours to our name we never took time to say "this is this and this is this") Wolf Lord took swings and 2 wounds went out on the Bikers (though due to wound allocation it was on 2 seperate models). Nobs fought back and got nothing through the armor and stormshield. Boss did 5 attacks with 4 wounds and after the dust of the dice rolls cleared we saw 4 dice with 1s and 2s on them. *facepalm* Reserved Speeders flamed 15 orks. Bikers popped the Battle wagon on the central objective after some failed shooting and successful PF attacks. Flamer bikers held their own but Snikrot had earned his points back by holding me up for a round, but we refused to play a reactive game. We continued with our plans of controlling ours and contesting two. Turn 3: Ork movement had them castle up on central objective (killing my Melta squad that popped thier BW that turn), and 2 20 man Ork reserve squads came in just on the line of the board behind my Speeders (Stunning one and shooting another out of the sky). Thier Nob Bikers & Boss charged one of the 6 man WG/RP squads near them and just ate them alive, the wolves went down dragging 2 bikers with them and only 2 W on the Boss left. Bikers consolidated back away from our lines. Slugga boys assaulted non-Sammuel speeder and Stunned it. Grootza's killed an AB. Things were looking Grim, there was just to much of everything for us to handle. Our turn looking at our watch we had 15 min to win this. Home Objective SW team 24' shooting and LLing Central ork teams, to weaken thier numbers, so that the 6 man WG/RP squad near by could assualt the now weakened ork squads getting them just within 6' range of central objective. All they had to do was live long enough to contest, and drag as many of those green freaks down in the process as they could. An oddly it worked. 7 orks dead and 4 space marines still standing. Sammuel turbo boosted within 6' of Ork Home objective. As planned we had our Home objective and contested the other two. Looked at our watch *insert cursing* 5 mins left. Turn 4: Our opponents request to focus just on things that would matter. 2 Ork squad shot and assaulted Sammuel but couldn't pull him down (still contested). The huge wave of Orks in the center mutilated the last of the wolves and thier Rhinos near by, grasping a firm control over the central objective. That was our five minutes never got to do our side of Turn 4. Game Result: A Draw. In the result of the draw it turned to kill points. They had 7 we had 6. They took away the win and went on. We got knocked out of the tournament after only one game. Blarg So with my ravenwings back on thier shelf I am back to painitng again. Hope to have pics up soon.
