Deathwing Librarian

Hi all!

After painting quite a bit of green and bone colored minis, I wanted to do a blue one, so a librarian for my dark angels was a good option.

I found this metal mini in the bargain section of one of the hobby/model shops in the town where I live.

I didn't realise/see when I bought him that he is really lean compared to the plastic termies. I would have liked if GW had given the model more bulk.

I also experimented with fluo colors for the first time (power axe and the eyes) and am pretty satistied with the results. I was going for the "look at me I got scary psychic eyes" look (hence white/no pupils )

Now for the pictures, C&C as always much appreciated.

Cheers,

Perfectionist

Good job!

I like the effect on the eyes, but the power sword might be a little over the top in its neon-ness. It looks like that might partly be a result of a camera flash or some other photographic element, but maybe a wash of badab black or thrake green, followed by an extreme re-highlight of whatever was the brightest green? I'm imagining a green as dark as the winged symbol on the storm bolter (which I love, by the way), color faded/highlighted up to the bright green you have on the sword.

Also is the right shoulder pad freehanded? It looks sharp.

Again, good job. Thanks for sharing.

The green on the axe is quite extreme, but not as bright as on the pictures. I did turn the color down a bit by washing it again with green wash. The overal look is a quite a bit darker now, but still neon-y. I painted the axe skull white first, then with neon green in a lot of (about 12) watered down layers (that stuff is very transparent after it dries). After 2 washes with green I went for increasingly brighter layers towards the edge, first again with neon green, then with neon yellow and finally with a neon yellow/white mix.

And yes, the icon on the shoulder pad is freehanded.

Thanks a lot for the comment!

Nice painting on that model. It's the older termie libbie, so it's built around the old terminators, hence why it's somewhat skinner than the new lot

I do agree that the axe is a bit bright, but i'd like to see how it is now

Ask and thou shall receive :) and thanks for the comment.

I'll post 1 pic with flash on in my "photo studio" and 1 by daylight.

Love your work, mate. That Librarian is looking great- good to see an oldie make a comeback. I still remember mine, the monstrous cc asset he always turned out to be.

My only small gripes are the uses of green with reds. They look a little off, but thats just me being picky.

Kudos, keep up the good work!
