Emperor's Angel
Chapter Name: Thunder Warriors Geneseed: Imperial Fists Founding: 7th Founding Homeworld: Fleet based Chapter, none. This Chapter is on constant campaign in systems conquered by the Imperial Fists during the Great Crusade. They have established small keeps strategically in many systems, returning to these only when needed. Only recruiting worlds will actually have delegates from the Chapter stationed, to oversee selection and training of future Astartes. Insignia: Black Gauntlet holding a Red Lightning Bolt, on a white background. Heraldry: Black Backpack, Chestplate, Belt and Codpiece. Helmet, Shoulder Pads, Arms and Legs are White. (Think Marines Malevolent, except white instead of yellow). Veterans are noted by a Red stripe on the helmet. All honor markings and rank insignias are Red. The Chapter does not use standard company colors to designate companies. Vet Sgt. Devestator Squad Motto: Strike Hard, Strike Fast; Strike First, Strike Last Beliefs: Think Black Templar lite. They fanatically revere the God-Emperor of Mankind and believe in his Divinity. They view the Loyalist Primarchs as a Pantheon of sorts and pray to each for guidence, especially revering Rogal Dorn. While not as fanatically opposed to Psykers as their older cousins, this Chapter refuses the use of Librarians or witchcraft and stricly follows the rulings of the Council of Nikea. They will fight alongside other Chapter's Librarians, but these situations are rare and wrought with tension. The Chapter prides itself on personal discipline and harsh punishment. The pain glove is used extensively, a trait inherited by their blood-line. Organization: Mostly Codex. A few changes. The Chapter does not have a Scout Company. Only full Battle-Brothers go to war. In exchange for assault squads in regular battle companies, the chapter utilises "Purifier Squads". These squads are 10 Marines with 4 assault weapons. The Chapter rarely splits up its forces into anything smaller than 300 Astartes. The Chapter prefers to overwhelm its opponents in quick brutal strikes and move on to the next warzone as a whole. On many occasions, this has almost become disastrous for the Chapter, but they have always endured. The Chapter Layout is as follows: Headquarters: Chapter Master and Honor Guard. The Honor Guard are very secretive. No one, save the Chapter Master know their number. Some say to become apart of the Honor Guard, a Marine has to receive a vision from the Emperor. They rarely speak, some are dispatched to the recruiting worlds, to oversee recruitment and training of future Astartes, some guard the Chapter Master and others are sent on missions of secret nature. When it is time for a new Chapter Master, it is from their ranks that one will be chosen. Their armor is blood red where the armor is white on normal Battle Brothers, and they have no Chapter Symbol on them, for they are the symbol of the Chapter. It is the goal of every Brother to join this select group. Reclusium: Home of the Chapter's Chaplains. The Head Chaplain is death incarnate, and spiritual father of the Chapter Master. The Reclusiam is also home to Marines who have been chosen to become Chaplains, if they survive. These Marines are formed into 5 man command squads and escort their Chaplain's into battle. They train extensively to deal with the threat of the daemon and their ilk. They form ad-hoc hunter squads to slay these abominations, being driven by the litanies and catechisms of their masters. When the Chaplain is slain, it is from these Brothers that they will be replaced. When not in battle, it is the duty of this select group to learn the chapters history and document all for future reflection. It is a honor to be chosen to walk this path for the Chapter, and only brothers of fanatical faith are chosen. Apothicarion: Home to the Chief Apothecary and his ilk. Most are dispatched to the Line Companies, but some are stationed on recruiting worlds. When the Honor Guard return to the Fleet with their chosen aspirants, it is to the Apothicarion that they will go to be screened and genetically tested, before training begins. Armory: Order of the Master of the Forge and his Techmarines. Most are dispatched to the Line Companies. They over see the Chapters valuable war machines and the servitors that man them. They are a secretive order and while fully trusted as battle brothers and recognized for their value, they are not fully trusted by many of their Brothers, due to their ties to Ad Mech. Fleet Command: 1 Battle Barge, 10 Strike Cruisers, and an assortment of Rapid Strike Vessels and Thunderhawks. The Battle Barge of the Chapter is "Bolt of Dorn". It is a heavily modified Battle Barge. It only goes to war on the front lines in extreme circumstances, as it is the home of the Chapter. Only the Chapter Master, Reclusium, Apothicarion and Senior Tech Marines are stationed on this vessel. Most of the space of this vessel is dedicated to the training of future Astartes, as this is where they are brought to from their respective recruiting worlds. 1st Company: Veteran Assault Company. This is the only company to utilize Jump Packs or the very rare Terminator Armor. Always the first of the Chapter into harms way. They lead the way and form the very tip of the spear. It is rare for the Company to be split up between the various other companies; as the Company usually deploys en mass to form landing zones and take out dug in strategic locations for follow on forces. As the Chapter rarely breaks up its forces into more than 2 or 3 Strike Forces, this isnt that big of an issue. 2nd Company: Battle Company 3rd Company: Battle Company 4th Company: Battle Company 5th Company: Battle Company 6th Company: Tactical Company 7th Company: Tactical Company 8th Company: Tactical Company 9th Company: Purifier Company 10th Company: Devestator Company Still working on it ;). As always, comments and criticisms are welcome. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/208933-thunder-warriors/ Share on other sites
Shinzaren
. The Chapter also has a struggling relationship with the Adeptus Mechanicus. (Reason still in the works) All Techmarines are Chapter trained, and as a result, do not have access to many of the benifits of other Chapters. This wouldn't work so well. The AM are the only ones who can train new Techmarines, as they are the only ones with the knowledge of the ancient systems and litanies. If you chapter has severed ties with the AM, you will be unable to make war. Even the Blood Angels, who have been seriously at odds with the AM ever since the discovery of the Baal Predator STC send recruits to Mars. The binding oaths between the Space Marines and the AM come directly from the Emperor, so short of your chapter being declared Renegade, the AM is still gonna require your gene-tithes, and your tech-savvy recruits. You might not like each other, but you HAVE to work together. Shadey
How does your chapter see mutants such as navigators and astropaths? I assume even the black templars would make use of these as there is no technological way (at least no way the Imperium has access to) to get around the needs of navigation in the warp or long distance communication. As for names what about Dorn's/The Emperor's Gauntlets, The Mailed Fist(s) or something along those lines. Emperor's Angel
This wouldn't work so well. You might not like each other, but you HAVE to work together. I do see what you are saying. While I wasnt really meaning complete severed ties. I was wanting this chapter to be extremely suspicious of outsiders, including the Ad Mech. The more I thought of it, I realized you are correct. These guys are Black Templar lite... and even they use techmarines from Mars. Point taken and conceded. How does your chapter see mutants such as navigators and astropaths? I assume even the black templars would make use of these as there is no technological way (at least no way the Imperium has access to) to get around the needs of navigation in the warp or long distance communication. I should probably word this part better. Its not that they do not see their uses. They just do not believe that Astartes should dabble in the warp. Astropaths go through a soul binding process with the Emperor, and they understand the purpose of Navigators as well. The Council of Nikea banned psykers in the Adeptus Astartes, not elsewhere. And they follow this creed dogmatically. When operating with other Chapters, they see them as A) gambling with evil and  defying a decree of the Emperor. As far as the naming goes. I really like the idea of Thunder something. With your help I have narrowed it down to the following: Thunder Marines Thunder Knights Thunder Bolts Thunder Fists Thunder Warriors I am really digging Thunder Marines for some reason. It is flowing for me. What do you guys think? And thanks.
