Black Templars from my Crusade.

Awch. Don't say this is the all-creepy Thunder-hoof Cavalry? Don't remember Codex:BT having such unit... Or this is biker?

Btw, why not the bretonnian range? Their horses are much more "knightly" and I believe You can mount a SM mini on them (I can check that btw, having a huge lot of bretonnian for sale now).

I may not be Abel, but you are killing me Cain :P

Creepy? Knights not having mounts whilst Wolves ride wolves?! You must be teasing me :P

I am not sure of the Bretonnian's size. I saw this idea on Black Matt's Black Legion blog, but with Chaos marines on the Chaos warhorses. The ratios looked right and so I made the warhorses without chaos icons and arrows. Have you a picture or measurement of the Bret horse?

Hmm...Templars with wolf rules...15 thundermounts...4 'Marshals' on thundermounts....and three iron priests on thundermounts...

22 Thundermounts...that Brothers, is some terrifying cavalry force.

The proof of your contamination is really piling up, brother. We may have to revoke your Champion status should it manage to continue.

Paddlings and a flea check are already inbound.

:)

All the same, that is a pretty gnarly model. I still prefer good old fashioned bikes, but I admit the horse has a certain charm to it. Well done.

I blame the Apothecaries! ~ they said I was immune to Hep-W but now I start chasing the Rhinos around. It hurts my teeth!

I am willing and able to undertake all tests and torments!

Thank you.

I've got 4 more, and I also bought 3 Juggernaughts. That'll give me a chance to do some Bret lance and Skaven flail versions, plus a few BT SS from FW.

The dread on the right...I can't stop laughing!

I know it's a trick to make Dreads look dynamic and mobile, but that one...he looks like he's skipping! Base him in a field of tulips and have his DCCW modeled to carry a basket full of posies. :P

Ok, something a bit more constructive....well, to alleviate the problem, maybe try repositioning the front "toe" on his rear foot, to be flat and flush with the base. Dread's may have legs capable of punting an Ork 30 yards, but I've never really seen them as something that can get airborne under their own momentum  Giving him a more solid connection to the ground may null the "WEEEEEE!" factor in favor of a more appropriate "BLAAAARGH!"

And for the love of all that is holy, paint some of these for crying out loud! ;)

I love your Wolves brother...

I mean templars, I swear!

WLK

Pfft!

If I were a Wolf, the Deldar wouldn't have turned my aspirants into mock-Russ furbies!

;)

I have never seen a dreadnought posed so dynamically. I love it.

Thank you Ray K :D

They are the AoBR dreads, and I thought to have a few more dynamic poses than the 'stand and deliver' they come in.

Maybe he is a Dutchy?!

I was going to build around his ground foot with rocks and the like, which might disguise his gaiety....

Perhaps I'll show another pick when I have based them.

It is easier for me to kit-bash and convert a new thing than to paint the old stuff :P

You should hang out with Ray K more. I like his posts better :P

You know, I never thought about doing Wolves that way. And why is this in the Templar forum?

Anyways, awesome models. I love the Thunderwolf/hoof cav. Nice poses on the dread.

Thats what I like about you, Wilhelm. You never disappoint. That Templar on the horse. Brilliant. I have to admit, I was sitting at my local GW on the weekend looking at the fantasy chaos knights box and wondering if such a thing was possible, and by god now I'm going to do it. The flags as well. Excellent. (I'll check bret mounts as well, though the Chaos ones do look like robots.)

The dreadnoughts on the otherhand. On a technical note (40k is realistic, amiright?) I've always thought dreadnoughts sort of shuffled (IE; DoW2). They'd be far to heavy to break into a full on sprint, kick field goals or skip.

Now... on a design note. Does everyone remember Davian Thules dreadnought voice from DoW2? The deep, spine shaking, mechanical growl...

Alright, now take that mental image and impose it onto this....

This is all I see when I look at the dreadnoughts. This is all I will ever see...

I want to see one kicking a field goal, marked football grounds and all. I want to see the other one skipping through a field of daisies. If we were going to get really technical, perhaps this is what you see when you're interned in a dreadnought sarcophagus? I'm sure dreadnoughts dream like everyone else.

Would it be to much to ask for them to be holding hands, or claws?

Creepy? Knights not having mounts whilst Wolves ride wolves?! You must be teasing me

Jelousy does not fit a true Templar! You better start hating me, or Your brothers here will start noticing the changes in You... You know, the ones brough by Canis Helix :P

Uh huh. I have plenty of them at my parents house - I will be checking in there this week and will bring some of them over (I don't have lots of WFB staff where I live now, mostly 40k). From the modelling point of view, they should be fine, the only thing which may cause modelling difficulties are the high cavalry saddle cantles, since the marine may not actually fit between gullet and cantle, but it's nothing which can not be solved by cutting and filing :P.

SPACE HULK terminators made into real Marines.

The Emperor's Champion [one of a few of mine :) ]:

Batter up! :tu: Interesting kitbash, but a couple of awkward points. The cloak is kinda going against the momentum of the model (a big problem with flowing cloth bits in general, I hear this is what's holding up the plastic SoB production). The sword handle could use an extender, something simple like the eagle and skull heads on chainsword hilts would work find. Considering that it looks a bit wide, you might want to try the cross from the top of the Holy Orb. It should fit fairly well.

The termies look good. The only thing which seems a bit odd is the cross on the waist guard of the last guy.

The Emperor's Champion [one of a few of mine :P ]:

Except for the fact that the backpack sticks out a bit too much from the model, this guy is great.

The TH SS Termies are cool stuff, the knight on horse looks amazing, and those templars with the flags are very crusader-ish.

The dreads though look rather silly to me, at least the one with the cartoonlike sprint pose. Nonetheless was probably a ton of work and is well done.

I have been painting my Crusaders, but I have a few and I am painting them all to the same stage, so the end result will be far off. So no need to charge up the paddleTM

Honest....

Here are some more Heavy Cavalry:

Brother, I art intimidated.

http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad29/Marshall_Wilhelm/Templars%20we%20fight/DSCF1549.jpg

So, do you think they'll give me a try-out, O knight of the void?

http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad29/Marshall_Wilhelm/Templars%20we%20fight/DSCF1550.jpg

Hmm..yup, that's a big 'un alright. The normal sized Initiate looks a bit confused, going in three different directions at once, though the flail is awesome. And Senor Teenytiny is giving me ideas for some new Neophytes...hard to tell, but does that fella's wrist and hand roughly equal the size of a scout's?

Well done Cavalier, by the way. Swapping out the shins and feet was a good call, and chaining on his lance was a nice touch.
