first do a white coat.. or paint white with a watered down Asurmen Blue wash (2:1 water to wash) Enchanted blue is also an option. you could also add a little spot of Badab Black for older ice. Then use a semi-gloss brush on varnish, and liberally top with snow drifts. I'd edge the armor in a cool light grey/blue colour.

k thanks for the tips guys. it looks like some of you go from dark to light and others go light to dark. is one easier or necessarily better, or do they end up looking about the same.

 

@Kassil: thanks, my army originally was a 13th company but with the loss of scout on every unit i decided to go fully mechanized over drop podding. Thus they became a lost company. They were very fortunate to find a whole fleet of transports in that giant ice hulk that was floating by.
