SpaceWolf13C
I'm making a lost company and I'm wanting to have their armor look like its made of ice. The only pictures or tutorials I've found are just on doing ice for the basing. So if anyoone knows where to look or has pictures or advice, please post it here. Thanks guys. Guest Triszin
well what type of ice? this is the best picture i could imagine painting ice as http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_9be-CXXW-oE/SAPIyuNi_TI/AAAAAAAABE8/Yu4XAW9rPzo/s400/ice.jpg just work your way from a shadow gray, through blues up to white. Kassill
Yeah, this looks like it would start with a medium dark blue, to an Ice Blue/Skull White maybe. Very cool Idea by the way! Infact, that would be a new twist on a 13th Company.....hrm..... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/209036-ice-tutorials/#findComment-2495210 Share on other sites
MaveriK
first do a white coat.. or paint white with a watered down Asurmen Blue wash (2:1 water to wash) Enchanted blue is also an option. you could also add a little spot of Badab Black for older ice. Then use a semi-gloss brush on varnish, and liberally top with snow drifts. I'd edge the armor in a cool light grey/blue colour. Evilbob
When I do Ice, I start with Regal Blue, then fade that into Enchanted Blue, which I fade into Ice Blue that finally ends in skull white. The stuff usually gets very light highlights of Space Wolves Grey on edges. SpaceWolf13C
k thanks for the tips guys. it looks like some of you go from dark to light and others go light to dark. is one easier or necessarily better, or do they end up looking about the same. @Kassil: thanks, my army originally was a 13th company but with the loss of scout on every unit i decided to go fully mechanized over drop podding. Thus they became a lost company. They were very fortunate to find a whole fleet of transports in that giant ice hulk that was floating by.
