The Predator GROND with Wolf Head cannon that spits melta flame

The Whirlwind Long Tooth - new missile options and faster (like the Baal Pred)

New WOLF SCOUT MODELS... or at least a WOLF SCOUT upgrade sprue.

Emphasis mine- I wholeheartedly agree- the current scout models don't give nearly enough opportunity to customize poses without doing a lot of carving and re-sculpting, esp. the positions of the heads. New wolf scout models would be AWESOME.

Oh, completely forgot to poast. Was a dissapointing seminar for the Wolves. The Eldar got a new Shadow Aspect warrior which will most defenitely be one of their entries within the book. I imagine we will see a ton

Literally nothing was announced other than what we already know.

SW/Elysians/Another force vs Eldar.

Ice/Snow World

Apparently we will also see kits within that time to 'fill the gap' in the GW line which probably means Thunder Wolves and maybe some other kits. Before the 1st wave it was speculated there would most likely be a 2nd wave as well with unknown items. We will have to see.

Found some more info.

General story of IA11 is a eldar colony world which 'put into storage' (deep freeze) and forgotten.

Discovered by imperium during Great Crusade.

Small eldar defending force destroyed by SW.

10k years later eldar discover webway portal to planet but then find that the defending force has been killed and replaced with guard/marines.

Series of raids from corsairs/rangers etc before the big craftworld army attacks.

Planet is of significant importance as they need to justify the use of the Phantom.

Cadians + Elysians to be involved (with cold weather upgrades as mentioned in my previous posts)

Space wolves are the marines, concentrating on one Great Company.

Likley to be One SW character and maybe a couple of Eldar.

Eldar also getting fully enclosed war walkers (for the cold)

If SW could get anything in the new IA, I think a specialized Drop Pod would be ideal (both for fluff and playstyle):

"Longship" Class Drop Pod (125 points)*

BS F S R

4 13 13 13

Unit Type:

-Vehicle (Open Topped)

Wargear:

-Twin-Linked Assault Cannon

-Akela Storm Launchers (+35 points)

Transport Capacity:

-20 models or two dreadnoughts**

SPECIAL RULES:

-Inertial Guidance System

-Immobile

-Drop Pod Assault

AKELA STORM LAUNCHERS

-Akela Launchers are specially designed combinations of multiple smoke launchers and frag grenade launchers manufactured by Iron Priests and attached to Longship Drop Pods to assist in the shock of the assault. On the turn that a Space Wolf player's Longship Drop Pod lands, all friendly models/squads that disembark from that Longship Drop Pod gain +1 to their cover save and count as having defensive grenades until the start of their next turn. All Dreadnoughts that disembark count as being obscured and as having defensive grenades until the start of their next turn.

Notes:

*"Longship" Drop Pods are a Heavy Support Choice and can only be taken if you have at least one Iron Priest in your army.

**Can hold up to two separate squads of 10 or less models each or one single squad of up to 20 models. Models in Terminator Armor, models on Space Marine Bikes, and models with Jump Packs each count as two models for transport purposes. Dreadnoughts count as 10 models each for transport purposes. All other unit types only count as one model. Models with the unit type Beasts or Cavalry may not ride in the Longship Drop Pods (except for Fenresian Wolves/Cyberwolves that count as Wargear for a Space Wolf model; these take up two model slots each).

-------------

FLUFF

-Modeled on the Longships used by the Fenrisian tribesmen, the Space Wolves use the "Longship" Drop Pods to rapidly deploy large strike elements anywhere on a planet's surface with unprecedented shock and fury. Longship Drop Pods are particularly favored by Wolf Guard operating in Terminator Armor, since they refuse to use the traditional Teleportation assault methods used by other Space Marines, and also by Wolf Lords wishing to deploy multiple Dreadnoughts rapidly to overwhelm their enemies ability to react.

------------

Explanation:

Basically, I think this would give Space Wolves a great deal of needed flexibility in their deployment options. For example, you could use a Longship Drop Pod to deploy a Grey Hunter Pack and a Dreadnought together for mutual support as soon as they hit the ground; you could fill a Longship Drop Pod with up to 10 models in Terminator Armor; you could load it with 15 Blood Claws, plus a Wolf Guard Battle Leader and an HQ or two; you could drop a pack of Swiftclaw Bikers behind enemy lines to seize objectives, etc., etc.

Requiring an Iron Priest and making them a Heavy Support choice puts a little bit of "cap" on using them, since it forces a player to give up both an Elite Slot and a HS slot in order to field them, plus it gives SW armies a little more incentive to use the Iron Priest. Finally, not allowing Thunderwolves and FenresianWolves/Cyberwolves on the transport is to try and prevent unbalanced spamming of either super power TWC or cheap, throwaway wolves behind enemy lines.

Little bit more:

Imperial Armour 11 Space Wolves versus Eldar. Cold weather conversions for Cadians, some "missing" Elysian troop types. Tony wouldn't be drawn on what the Elysians were as it was still up in the air. Eldar Lynx and Hornet as we've seen. New Aspect warrior Shadow Spectres with flight pack and fire prism style weapons which can fuse together for enhanced effects. Will be sold in squads. Enclosed war walker cockpits plus other addons for the war walkers. Space Wolves special character and possibly wolfy bits. The question of Thunderwolves came up and it seems as if someone will do them, either GW or FW, but who hasn't been decided. That was backed up in the WD subscriber seminar which indicated a willingness to do them but no decision either way. Some minor BFG rules for specific ships.

Sounds good.

If they dont raise the points by more than 5 a close warlwalker might even be worth taking.... or energy shields :P.

Not sure about these Shadow Specters... and I wish we knew wich great company it was going to be.

Sorry to reserect a dead thread but what exactly is in those Imperial Armor books and why are they upwards of $100?

New rules, mini releases, background fluff, etc???

I can't keep up with all the releases between FW and GW.

Are there any older imperial armor books on the Space Wolves that are worth trying to find?

They idd containt rules for FW models. Aswell as insane fluff, art and other cool stuff. If i believe alot of it is in full colour aswell.

Most people don't do IA cuz it's kind of expensive, but still many do it. Good thing is, you don't have to buy all volumes. You can just buy 1 or 2 (or more if you like)

to get the stuff about the army you want. (you just have to figure out wich volume gives what)

To expand upon the above, there are several different types of Imperial Armour books (all of them expensive):

  • A key element of all of them (with one exception) is that they contain rules for Forge World models. This is especially true for Volumes I and II, which were pretty much pure rules with accompanying fluff. Similarly, there are two Imperial Armour books focusing on rules for using Forge World models in Apocalypse (both as individual models and in formations).
  • There are two Aeronautica Imperialis books, featuring rules for Forge World models, but also featuring rules for a different style of game (aerial battles).
  • There is currently one book in the Master Class series, featuring modeling and painting tips (primarily showing Forge World models, though the advanced tips shown in the book are equally applicable to non-Forge World models).
  • The largest collection of Imperial Armour books are properly considered as campaign books. These feature "historical" campaigns within the WH40K game universe and give lots of background material and rules for re-fighting the campaigns. This is the type of book that the rumors have the Space Wolves being featured in.

While the books are expensive, they are not truly "necessary" for gamers to have. However, if you have the disposable income and want to get more "serious" about gaming, I highly recommend the books. They provide a wealth of detail that will expand your knowledge of the game universe and they provide you with some slightly different styles of gaming, something more in the context of historical wargaming. Although they tend to have problems with editing (lots of spelling mistakes that get missed in review), they are a pleasure to read.

For the last question, the Space Wolves are "featured" in any of the older Imperial Armour books. However, Imperial Armour Volume II does include a few pictures of Space Wolves vehicles. If you only buy two of the Imperial Armour books, I recommend Volume II (lots of background material on the Space Marines and some pictures of Space Wolves vehicles) and the Master Class book (good tips for taking your vehicle models to the next level when it comes to painting and modeling).

And of course, Forge World does have some nice stuff to support your Space Wolves models (terminator shoulder pads, etc.). The stuff Forge World creates is made of resin, which is different from the plastic used in normal Citadel miniatures. It holds more detail, but is a bit more difficult to work (and you should wear a mask if you ever cut it with anything other than an X-acto blade).

.... Cold weather upgrades? Holy crap, I'm going to need to get IA11. No exceptions for me. Might help my own SW/Cadian battlegroup.

It's a shame we will surely lose 8(

You call yourself a Space Wolves player? Heresy. Where's your blind optimism? They will win, for no one can best them in that kind of environment.

Well, looking at the models FW has been doing/planning like the hornet and lynx, enclosed war walkers and such, it would seem to me that this is going to be a hit-and-run type campaign. Makes sense too with the Elysians and Wolves. Cadians will probably be the big hammer to deal with the Phantoms in the "major campaign", so I would expect to see any new Space Wolf stuff based around the hit-and-run type scenarios. Wolf Scouts being prime for this, maybe we'll get a Telion-type. But I guess we'll cross that bridge when we get there. I'd personally like to see a tank variant in there, but with the Achilles release I don't see them doing another Land Raider yet. Maybe a Land Speeder variant to counter the lynx and hornet or access to a Stormraven.

this could be a really good thing. After the revel I am expecting a wolf lord special character(for the company mentioned) possibly a special character priest of some kind, a Wolfy upgrade pack and (praying) thunder wolf models!!!!!!!!!

EDIT: off topic is it just me or does the charcaradons special character look like prime material fro conversion?

Starkhan

Yes he does...am liking the gauntlets especially and if the class of model he is gives us an indication of the upcoming SW releases...I see a large chunk of cash going out in my near future...better start saving/selling...maybe time to get rid of my second edition rules for this one...I definately am in for the IA11 book
