okay

so

my best is

x8 wolf guard in power armor with bolt pistol and frost weapon

Ragnar Blackmane

land raider

so they roll up in the land raider and assault and get a minimum of 4 attacks each with a maximum of 6 so a minimum of 32 and a maximum of 48 all wounding on 2+ (on t4 and below) because of berserk charge and the frost weapons

not to mention Ragnar's 5 possibly 8 attacks hitting on 3 and wounding on 2

by the way everyone hits on Initiative

15 strong Blood Claw unit with a power weapon, flamer, attached Wolf Guard with a Power Fist and led by a pretty bog standard Wolf Priest riding around in a Land Raider. Without the Raider I add a 16th Blood Claw with a 2nd Flamer.

The unit is big, puts out a ton of attacks and never lets me down. They're my army's shock troops and led by the priest they smash into stuff with abandon and kill a lot of enemies. Sometimes they survive, sometimes they don't but they always cause a lot of havoc and mayhem leaving my Grey Hunters a generally easy time mopping up and securing objectives. There's just something about nearly a score of power armored berserkers that unsettles opponents...

my killer unit

7 GH with wulfen, melter, wolf standard, power weapon

1 WG with powerfist and combi-melter

1 Wolfpriest, necklace and runic armor

1 Ragner

all transporter in a normal Land Raider

@xeenos

played it a few times....always worked out well

why would they be wounding on 2+??? Frost blades are 1+ str right??

the WG will wound on2+ on the charge as ragnar gives them furious charge aswell.

Mine is:

8 GH, melta gun, MOTW, Drop pod, Wg in TDA with chainfist, combi plasma.

Can be placed where i need them. Good against horde when DP due to 14 bolter shots, 2 combi plasma and a MG, good against heavily armoured targets due to the amount of shots, and good against vehicles due to the Melta gun, plasma shots and the WG chainfist (as this turns the unit into a monstrous creature in cc with vehicles). And of course good in combat as they have 14-21 normal attacks, 2-8 rending attacks and 2-3 chainfist attacks.

really good all round troops.

To the OP why not put a WP in the unit aswell, as this will let you reroll the misses?

The Frost Blades are +1 Strength, and Ragnar's Furious Charge grants another +1 to Strength, so everybody in that unit would be hitting at Strength 6.

For normal games, it's Grey Hunter pack "Icefist", 2 Melter, Banner, Wulfen, Powerfist in a Drop Pod.

They drop behind enemy lines and always reap a bloody toll, before reinforcements arrive.

For Apoc, that would be my "tank of doom":

LRC

Ragnar, Ulrik,

all following in PA: 4 Stormshield+Thunderhammer, 12 Frostaxe+ Stormshield.

They ride out hunting those big FW Deamons, primary target the huge Khorne dude. For anything else they are just overkill :P .

10 Grey Hunters, in a Rhino, with a pair of Plasmaguns, a Powerfist, and a Wolf Totem.

They rarely let me down.

I run almost the exact same setup, but without the totem. They have yet to let me down in the two games I have played em in so far. :D

But, as another poster said, my Long Fangs with Missile Launchers are FANTASTIC! I havent added a WG with launcher yet, but still, they are pretty beastly! (no pun intended)

In my last few games my strongest unit has been:

Wolf Priest

10 Wolf Guard with 2 powerfists

All in a Landraider Redeemer.

I can make this unit so much stronger if i wish but this way I keep the points down and they still annihilate enemy infantry. Just yesterday I used it to speed around the right flank and on my second turn that unit charged into The Tau players HQ unit with Suits and all kinds of nasty stuff. I wiped that unit in one round with my powerfists and 32 attacks+Wolf Priest atacks.

They got hammered hard by tau shooting next round but they had moved into cover in the consolidate move. In my next turn the ones left charged into the 3 broadsides and killing them outright with powerfists. Landraider itself torched around 3 full tau units and blew up a transport with it's multi melta.

I love this unit and even though I only ran it twice it works so well for what I want it to do.

Otherwise greyhunter squads>all.

The totem is definitely just a perk, when I have the extra points but it does on occaision help alot.

Then theres other games where I forget I have them.
