Grimtooth
Who do you think would minister to the spiritual well-being of a Lone Wolf at the point he loses his pack? I picture whoever in command finds the Lone Wolf, would immediately call the nearest Wolf Priest to minister to the despair and raging beast within of the new Lone Wolf. Also, just reading the rules of a Lone Wolf, do some of you think that they are on the verge of turning into Wulfen? That the devastation of losing their pack mates has awoken the beast within? Daily ministrations of a Wolf Priest to the mental well being of a Lone Wolf. That each battle that does not result in the fulfillment of revenge and absolution would trigger depression and even a greater craving for the beast within to take control. Comments and critiscism? Wysten
I think once the oath is called, aside from allowing him to have a pick at the armory, he either focus's his effort on training or soliltude. Even a wolf lord would not try and interfear with a lone wolfs oath so beyond making sure he was not corrupted in other ways, they leave him alone until they are ready to engage the hated foe. I imagine that even the wolf priest could do nothing to help once he's taken up the oath, to do that would be to demean his quest and hence would allow him to face that internal battle alone. Whoever comes out of that cell, wolven or man, would be focused on his task to the excusion of everything else. To him, his way of dealing with the pain is to refine every bit of his spilit for creating a great story to tell his brothers when he joins them, or to get perfect revenge. Roland Durendal
Actually Brother Ramses, in the background story I've written (well first draft at least) for one of my Lone Wolves, it is a challenge for him to keep the Wulfen in check. In game terms he doesn't have MotW (CF/SS/TDA = fits in with the overall theme), but the despair of losing his pack has pushed his ability to control the Wulfen inside to the brink, and he must be bound in chains constantly when not out seeking his death (ergo why he has a Chainfist...I have an AWESOME conversion idea in mind for him) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/209085-lone-wolves/#findComment-2494619 Share on other sites
Wysten
Lone Wolves can take mark of wolven, check the bottom of their entry, not all wolves overcome the beast within. Only with battle can it be tamed. I've always imagined that Lone Wolves that managed to tame it would become Wolfguard Leaders or in league with a wolf lord in strength, having overcome the beast within and controlled that primitive anger into a refined weapon to weild in combat. Just does not seem natual that they get dropped to 1 wound after all that. Ranwulf
I think it works like this: 1)Pack exterminated... 2)Wolf Priest comes and ministrate a Ritual. 3)Wolf Priest write the Oath as a Tatoo in the Lone Wolf 4)The Lone Wolf comes back to the Great Company 5)He fights till he fufilled the Oath. or 5)He dies. or 5)He is ashamed of himself for not fulfilling the oath. TrentL
I pictured my lone wolf as a quite determined person, who only has one thing (his oath) on his mind. And while the rest are drinking, being boystrous or having fun, the Lone Wolf sits separated from the rest (I always picture SW camping by a fire with beer... no idea why) but the Lone Wolf has his own fire, and no beer, for it might mess with him fulfilling his Oath. I see him sharping his knives, cleaning his bolter, polishing his armor. My particular Lone Wolf goes nowhere without his two Fenrisian wolves who are all that is left and he talks to them in mumbles. I don't see him as rage incarnate, I don't see him as a loose cannon willing to do anything to die... (That's very Death Company Like..) Instead I see him as intense, too intense making others nervous around him, with no humor, no boasting, no other normal SW traits... he simply lives eats and breaths revenge for his fallen brothers.
