Son Of Moriar
Hi there folks; I'm going up against 2000pts of Eldar with Death Co. and i'm looking for advice regarding the Seer Council. Can anyone tell me how the Witchblades work? coz this unit is the only one I haven't faced b4. He takes the usual 3 warwalkers with a farseer or warlock 4 guide a couple of squads of guardians some fire dragons a wraithlord and a couple of transports. Don't know which characters he's gonna use. I'm going with Death Co. dreads, jump packs Astorath maybe Lemates a Land Raider and a squad on foot with a Chaplain Any thoughts, advice or mocking laughter welcome Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/209142-needing-advice/ Share on other sites
SnorriSnorrison
If my translation is correct, the witchblade wounds every target on a 2+ and has some special rule against vehicles with S9, or at least something like that. Note that wounds caused by the witchblade don´t ignore armour saves. Jakobus
Yep. exactly what Snorri has said. Always wound on 2+ regardless of toughness, counts as S9 when rolling against AV and you still get your Armour and FNP since the S9 is only when penetrating AV and doesn't count for instant Death. The Singing Spear is exactly the same plus it is an Assault1 ranged weapon with range 12" Edit for more stuff... I'd expect him to have an Enhance Warlock. which adds +1 to WS and Initiative so same WS and I as DC Destructor is basically a psychic heavy Flamer, but counts as an assault weapon. Son Of Moriar
Snorri; Jakobus I thank you for setting things straight. Think Astorath and the lads will be paying them a visit!!!! Leonaides
i realise it kind of goes against your theme, but a lib for the psy defence is almost a must. Mind war will do horrible things to your characters... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/209142-needing-advice/#findComment-2495476 Share on other sites
Redo
I have found that a big Eldar Seer council can take a bit of chopping before it falls down...especially if it has got Eldrad who has got a power weapon Witch Blade. This character will chew little by little through your DC but could also take out Chaplins in about two combat rounds. Eldar often use this time to deliberately bog down a tough combat unit and bring in a tricky unit such as Banshees that can carve up a unit like the DC. My advice would be to have a Reclusiarch with the DC and lock up Eldrad if he is there and have a Librarian for sure somewhere on the field to counter some of the Eldar psychic powers so that you can gobble the seer council up quick and aviod being trapped before some nasty units counter charges you.
