I play IG and wow. Like do you win they were killed 2 Land raiders and my vindicator and made one rhino immobilised in the first turn. And killed my storm shields terminators in close combat(i had 4 teminators and he had Colonel 'Iron Hand' Straken 7 guys). It was bad but scouts were great they killed on tank and 6 guy before they died to shooting. He had Colonel 'Iron Hand' Straken a Leman Russ Battle Tank and a Punisher with that guy that has WS 4. 2 Valkyries and Manticore. he got turn one and i lost half my army. they were in cover but he said that Valkyrie can see over the cover i was in. So how do i win or do better?

please help new space wolf

Well, aside from the fact that that was a little difficult to dechiper (no offense, but others will likely ask you to retype it) I think I can help you.

First, a few questions.

1 - What sort of units do you use?

2 - What sort of units does your opponent use?

3 - How do you and your opponent play?

Until you answer those questions it will be little difficult to help you.

That said, here are a few tips.

Scouts are great, especially when given a Meltagun. Outflank and blow something up.

Storm Shield Terminators will always fall to bad luck (sounds like what you had) or massed small arms fire (which IG can achieve ridiculously easily), the trick is to have them behind other units as a support unit.

Tanks can be problematic if you are lacking in Heavy Weapons. Long Fangs with Missile Launchers are good utility, while Lascannons are long range armour busters. For a closer approach, Mutli-Meltas can destroy a vehicle but you will struggle to get close enough to make good use.

Don't play defensively, especially if he uses Mech IG. Go on the offense, otherwise he can and will run circles around you while you sit there trying to fight back.

Do however, deploy defensively if he has a lot of long range anti-tank, deploy behind cover or with Land Raiders (or other tough armour) in front of your weaker stuff.

Hope this helps.

Well, the first bit of advice Im going to give you is to use punctuation. Its hard to follow what your saying when you dontuse any periods, or paragraphs.

Now... as for fighting IG, dont rely on your tanks rely on your troops. SS equiped wolf gaurd arent any better than their base save in CC against most gaurd anyways.

So Grey Hunters in Rhinos, or DPs. Lots of them. Whirlwinds to take out troops, Long Fangs, Dreads, and Landspeeder to take out transports and tanks.

Grey Hunters, grey hunters, GREY HUNTERS! Get my drift? But, yeah, IG can be tough, especially if they get first turn. Maybe reserve some of your forces? I have not tried this myself, but have seen other PA users use this against IG and Tau. Oh, and Long Fangs with ML's and a WG with CML will be your solution to those pesky Valkyries! :P

Bit of hyposcrisy there, Grey ;)

Well on the note of your troops not getting cover from the Valkries: unless they had an unobstructed view of you guys your would of got a cover save.

I think you mean, 'Unless they had an unobstructed view of your guys, you would have gotten a cover save'.

Skirax; Busting chops and grammar Nazi-ing, all across the Imperium!

Actually, a tactic I just thought of (So I dont know how effective it is) is having a Rune Priest in a DP with some GHs, and give him Thunderclap. I think that would be fairly effective against guardsmen, seeing how it's Ap5 Large Blast. That, and you dont have to have it centered on the RP, just touching him. So, DS in beside mob of guardsmen, hop out, Thunderclap, and watch guardsmen fall.

In theory of course. :)

Thunderclap is overkill for IG. A dual flamer GH squad in a DP would be more effective. Or dual melta for tanks. Wolfguard with combi weapons are also good for drop podding.

How many points are you playing?

Vendettas/valks crumble to missile long fangs. Use scouts and a drop pod melta squad to get the drop on vehicles. Stick your GH squads in Rhinos and tear towards their lines with either meltas (anti vehicle) or flamers (weapons teams/infantry). If you take an attached Wolfguard, give him a combiweapon. Giving your longfangs Razorbacks helps increase firepower and works as a transport.

3 rune priests is excessive. 1-2 is fine for most purposes. The table should have enough cover that multiple Stormcallers aren't necessary- an open table is just a "gimme" to gunlines. Usually, Living Lightning will be a better choice against IG.

Deploy carefully. Put long fangs in cover, if possible, with some good firelanes. Otherwise, put them in a razorback and zip them to a location, pop smoke, and hop out first turn. Rhinos should start in cover and zip up, popping smoke.

Landraiders aren't a super great choice unless you can put 3 (or more depending on points) on the table. Usually the points are better spent elsewhere. Same goes for TH/SS termies- Space Wolves pay too much for them.
