Fhyn
I am sure someone has done this before, or maybe not, since most concepts for Squats usually just use the IG codex. But well I love my Space Wolves, was my first army I played back in 96, but I also had a fondness for Squats. I tend to play dwarves in whatever game I play. But been thinking about it lately, of combining the two. :) Basically use the Space Wolf Codex, no changes, no special squat rules, just straight from the codex. But the premise of the army, would be a Great Company, that went on a Great Hunt, got lost in the warp, and basically got, for not finding a better word, scrunched by the elements, to the point where it also effected their GeneSeed. Now I also realize, that for some players, this would be a taint to the Geenseed, and would be a cause for exterminating em. But well I can live with that. :( Plus, Space Wolves and Dwarves, both take after the Viking Age, at least thats how it is to me, so the dwarf line of warhammer models, would be fun to convert over, and have the feel and look. Just curious on thoughts, and if anyone has ever heard of anyone doing this. I have heard folks doing it with IG armies, which is a good correlation for the original thoughts on Squats. But my thinking is more towards the Space marine getting messed up from the Warp. Thanks for any thoughts. Kassill
:) My friend was saying I should do something similar with my wolves this past weekend! Please, please take pics if you do go this route! captain fabian
Dwarfs with Bolters and Chainswords............ awesome. I wouldn't do it because SW models are more awesome and the conversion to Dwarfs might be difficult. Still a good idea though. Vikings are always Vikings no matter what. EDIT: you could use some Ironbreakers for Terminators :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/209298-interesting-concept-for-lost-company/#findComment-2497093 Share on other sites
chino
I'm actually working on something similar for one of my Wolf Guard inspired by Nachoman's artwork here. Considering the size of the Dwarf models and how little variation/components there are to them, you'll probably need a lot of green stuff. I think Scout sprues will help out seeing as they have the fatigues under carapace armour; which is very similar to Dwarf armour. Here's some pretty blurry photos of what I'm working on with my Wolf Guard Here and here Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/209298-interesting-concept-for-lost-company/#findComment-2497114 Share on other sites

Legatus
Space Wolves and WHFB Dwarfs are remarkably similar: - Viking/Norse culture - Beards - Axes - Runes - Not the "normal Magic" everyone else uses, but "storm/earth" based powers instead - kicking everyone's ass The main difference (setting aside) is not so much their individual size but that the Space Wolves can actually reach the enemy deployment zone. captain fabian
Sorry for the off topic but a Dwarf army can potentially do a 18'' sprint first turn. My Dwarfs at least have achieved that. And it scares the ...... out off your opponent when he sees Dwarfs marching against him. That's all. Again I'm sorry. Blitzkreig
Dwarves - Little berserkers who are perpetually drunk, swearing, feasting and trying to settle old grudges (often all of these at the same time). Space Wolves - Big berserkers who are perpetually drunk, swearing, feasting and trying to settle old grudges (often all of these at the same time)... hmmm I think I see a little similarity here :D. Legatus
[offtopic]I may be a bit rusty on my dwarf rules, but IIRC Strollaz's rune, which I assume you are refering to, only allows one extra move before the game. That would be a total of 12" after the first turn move. Am I forgetting something? And are you trying to say Dwarfs are not slow as ****?[/offtopic] Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/209298-interesting-concept-for-lost-company/#findComment-2497198 Share on other sites
captain fabian
Yes you are forgeting the huge Anvil sitting at the back of the army. And yes Dwarfs are slow but not that much. Lol, yeah, its kind of what put it in my head. There really isnt much of a difference in their mentalities. :D I like the dwarf warhammer minis for this idea. If I wanted to do them as an imperial guard unit, ie the old squats type, I would look for those minis that I think are Olleys Armies Miniatures, which would fit that better I think. That being said, yes theres alot of similarities- just not in the stupid playstyle many dwarf players adopted of snagging a hill and bolting up. SpaceWolf13C
its been awhile since ive read the dwarf codex, but i think theres a reference to a Logan Grimnar or maybe it was just Grimnar character in it.
