Erik Shadow Wolf
OK before anyone says it I did use the search engine and found nothing that could help, Any way..... I have started to use drop pods in my lists and I am a bit confused in regards to the fact that the only rules I could find in the codex stated that the unit that arives by drop pod can not assault the same turn, but I found no mention to if they are allowed to move or what restrictions they have to their shooting. Further to that if I have Logan in the pod with a unit can they still move, shoot or assault as per the confered relentless rule. Also as a note I couldn't check the rule book myself as I don't have one and only have access to one about once a week, although it is on my to buy list. stinkenheim
Drop pods are transports so like a rhino etc once the vehicle has moved the unit within counts as moving. In this case, the vehicle deep strkes (counts as moving at cruising speed) so once the unit deploys they count as moving for the purposes of rapid fire/heay weaponry. As the vehicle is not open topped to begin with (only after the unit has deployed does it count as that) and is not listed as an 'assault vehicle' (like landraiders for example) the unit is unable to assault that turn. Logan with a unit will be able to grant them relentless so they would be able to fire heavy weapons/rapid fire weapons as if they were stationary but they would still be unable to assault due to the normal transport rules. Erik Shadow Wolf
Ok thanks for that clarification, ultimately they can't move and treat shooting as having moved and can't assault. But if Logan is with them they can shoot as if they hadn't moved :D . Lumdin
But remember you have the option of running during your shooting phase. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/209359-drop-pod-rules/#findComment-2497618 Share on other sites
PKAwolf
As the vehicle is not open topped to begin with (only after the unit has deployed does it count as that) and is not listed as an 'assault vehicle' (like landraiders for example) the unit is unable to assault that turn. its less of a result of when the pod counts as open topped and more a function of the rules in the BRB p95 that state that you can not launch an assault in the turn you deepstrike [regardless of the delivery method] Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/209359-drop-pod-rules/#findComment-2497724 Share on other sites
