FallenLion
Hi all , lets just say that I love Space Wolves and Space Marines in general and that the space wolf novel was what got me into 40k :) ... I do love the first 3 books anyway, I am a painter not a gamer (ok not a very good painter but a painter none the less) and SW just look cool. fact. I am looking for maybe 1k - 2k worth of points for a Space Wolf army that just looks cool - no heavy tanks etc maybe a dread' or a land raider crussader but later so far I am looking at : the SW battleforce Character HQs - undisided 5 Skyclaw 3 Swift Claw Dread - ven? Long Fangs - fun to paint? Wolfguard - 5 looking at http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/content/...07a&start=3 So when painted do you recon this would look cool on my desktop or should I get something else? all help appresiated and C&C welcome for getting a better looking force Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/209565-beginers-guide-to-space-wolves/ Share on other sites
TrentL
That army is made to look good I think but not really perform 3 swift claw isn't goign to do that much Are you planning on playing or just painting? While I think you can definitely get away without a bunch of tanks, you are goign to want Grey Hunters and probably Rhino's to drive them to objectives etc. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/209565-beginers-guide-to-space-wolves/#findComment-2499971 Share on other sites
FallenLion
painting as I said above ^_^ so the army is built to look good? Right thats all good as I will very rarely play if ever with this army and IF I ever do that means I would make it moe competitive but thanks for the advice anyone got any tips on how to make Wolves look awesome? And bases are snowy right since the mightly fenris is a barren iceland Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/209565-beginers-guide-to-space-wolves/#findComment-2500212 Share on other sites
Bulweih
First, welcome to the sons of Fenris, Ale and roasted elk for you brother. *Slides a large keg and a plate his way* Describing Fenris as a barren iceland is not all that correct, you can find the missing details in the codex :) . As to your questions above: Dread, always a venerable, we were the first to have them and still posess the largest number, so be creative. Long Fangs can be fun to paint, just make sure you paint the model without the arms and backpack first, otherwise it can be a pain in the back. You can create your own packmarkings and add lots of cool stuff to them, as they are that awesome. By then, as stated before, you should add at least one pack of grey hunters as they form the backbone to any greatcompany. After that, post a pic or two of the assembled force and decide new from there on. Einholt
To create a "cool" looking space wolves force I would go for something fluffy, I would go for a wolf lord, a small squad of wolf guard to acompany him all with different wargear (wolf guard terminatores are ideal for this), a big blood claws pack (or 2), grey hunters, wolf scouts and long fangs with a mix of weapons, I would go for 2 heavy bolters and two lascannons and lastly a venerable dreadnaught. Not only will this look great on the table you have a relatively competitve force. Wolfeslad
Welcome to the Fang brother. Personally i dont like the GW "Space Wolves Grey" so my colour scheme is a little more gritty, check out my gallery. With regards a company, Anything fluffy is great, but standard would be 3 grey hunter, 2 bloodclaws, maybe 2 wolf guard squads and various vehicles to carry them all. just my 2p hehe Help yourself tomeat and ale if you have the stomach for either,, whelp Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/209565-beginers-guide-to-space-wolves/#findComment-2500585 Share on other sites

It should really be called, 'Sky blue' or something, because the name implies it's the colour scheme for space wolves when in fact, it's dreadfully too bright! About a decade ago when Games Workshop still sold the Colour Primers (in addition to Chaos Black and Skull White), e.g. Blood Red, Ultramarines Blue, Dark Angels Green etc, I made the fatal mistake of purchasing a 400ml Spray can of Space Wolves Grey, to then spray it all over the Rogue Trader Rhino, and moments later to recoil in shock. The Space Wolves grey however is excellent for highlighting. True Sharpsilver, what i should have said is i dont like the blueish grey colour scheme. mine are a gritty grey colour like an old wolf B) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/209565-beginers-guide-to-space-wolves/#findComment-2500688 Share on other sites

FallenLion
Ah thanks all As I said I am quite well traversed in your SW fluff - Hagar provided a lot of laughs, at how he is just him :P and yea gaming is a distant possiblitity - at the moment I have no one to gakme against and painting is a hobby :P no point wathcing this thread as I have a lot of other minis to paint e.g. the rest of AoBR (capt', termies, all orks ... if I can be bothered ... Dread', Tac squad ... with the fixed bolters :/ and a raven Guard scout squad) on that note does anyone know a good way of converting the AoBR from stardard bolters to CC weapons/bolt pistols?
