Lords of Shadow

Recommended Posts

The Hunter paused.

The Lord of Shadow immediately noticed it. He had fought beside the Hunter of Truth for years know, learning the quiet son of the Lion's ways, and teaching his own in return. Their brotherhood, like that of their chapter's, ran deep, and Unbityr knew unease when he saw it.

"What is it?"

"That stench. I've smelled it before."

Unbityr could not smell it, his helmet recycling the air inside of his armour, but he trusted Caird. The veteran of the other first company, as the Lords of Shadow veterans joked, had been offered to train new Hunter recruits twice now, on account of his natural aptitude. Despite that, Caird turned it down, claiming he was a warrior and a leader, but not a teacher.

"My helmet is picking up nothing, Caird, but with the forces of Chaos..."

Caird nodded. He gestured that his combat squad should continue, and Unbityr did likewise.

It was the year 580.M38, on the planet Crythes, on the continent Enium. The Governor of Crythes resided in it's capital there, and had managed to win the entire citizenry over without a single shot fired and not a single life taken. He quickly set to work creating a vast army, as well as securing the help of dark powers. The Lords of Shadow, along with the usual contingent of Hunters of Truth, had been nearby and immediately responded, sending scouts out and forerunners to probe the enemies defences, execute the governor, and generally cause havoc while minimizing their own losses.

This is where Sternguard squads Unbityr and Caird where deployed, and our story begins.
