Eggroll's Blood Angels

Can you tell us what kind of primer you use? I would also like to know if you prime with the airbrush or spray can primer?

It's duplicolour primer. You can find the details and a picture of it in my first post on this thread. It's the only primer I use.

Excellent work Eggroll, I'm very impressed.

I'd like to see any pictures you have of Commander Dante if you've made any progress with him.

Thanks. Will start working on him soon. Just finished off my Furioso dreadnought last night and will finish the base tonight. Then I'll start on Dante.

Finished off my Furioso last night. Not happy how the banner turned out but I guess I'll live with it. I botched it a few times before getting to the current version which is somewhat acceptable. Put some additional work on the base so that my dreads will all have different bases. The presculpted base of the dreadnought is a bit too plain and common these days.

Thanks Mick!

A year or two ago Games Workshop did a April fools joke with the "Instant Eavy Metal paint gun"

Looking at your models me thinks you actualy have one ;)

Stunning is all I can say as I am lost for words. :)

Haha, I remember that! Thanks though I'm glad something like that doesn't exist or else it would take the fun out of the whole hobby for me.

Do you "mask" off parts of your model?

Yup, I did mask the dreadnought when painting. The tanks however I've gotten lazy and since they're such big panels, I can do without.

Just finished off my Dante model. Was fun painting this model as I got to experiment on how to do the gold which I'll be using for my sang. guard once I get around to those. I particularly like the look of this model as well and not sure why many people complain about it, imo it fits fine in the current range and looks better than the sanguinator.

  • 2 weeks later...

Well after spending a good portion of this week painting, I finally got my techmarine done. This guy was a nightmare to paint with all the tubes, arms, and tiny little details. Finally got my whole squad finished.

Finally a update ;) , looks great really, well done :ermm: .

Thanks Mick!

Been busy this week working on a landraider. Managed to finish off most of it, just need to add some additional decorative bits from the ravenwing spru to the sides. Also started a 5 man jump assault squad and 5 man combat squad with beakie helms.

Landraider done and photoed. Couldn't get it to fit in my lightbox so the lighting isn't that great in the pics and a bit uneven. First picture is a better representation of the red while the other three have more of an "orange" hue. Also, it appears to be glossier in the photos because of the glare but the finish is more matte-satin in person.

Very well done. My only critizism (sp?) would be the orange/red on the lascannon-barrels. Seem a little out of place, since the colour is somewhat different from the main tank, but not enough to be a good contrast colour. Still, that might be the pictures.

Thanks Mick and Natanael. Natanael - the lascannons have a bronze trim on the barrels, I've been doing all my lascannons this way though they are darker in person.

Decided to build my first tank today. All the previous vehicles I've painted up to this point have all been bought off others so they came prebuilt. Since this is the first one I'm building, I decided to go all out with a Baal Pred with fully magnetized weapon options. In the end I ended up with 4 configs: Flamestorm Baal, Assault Cannon Baal, Assault Cannon Razorback and Rhino.

Took me a few hours today to figure out how to get everything magnetized properly. Ended up using as many metal plates in between pieces since I had a limited amount of magnets available. Still have some cleaning up to do on some mold lines left to do but all the pieces will hit the primer soon!

Some pretty sweet stuff as usual man, love the land raider, and that predator/razorback/rhino is immense! Could we get some close ups of the rhino/razorback magnetising please? I've been wanting to do something like this myself.

More pics won't help much in explaining things. Check out this video>

I used that when trying to figure out how to magnetize my Baal.
