Eggroll's Blood Angels

Those are simply amazing. But why oh why dont you greenstuff in the gaps on the jump packs? Its the only thing that detracts from otherwise 100% beautiful models.

Thanks, I've tried doing milliput to fill in the gaps on my previous jetpacks. Didn't find that much that huge of a different so I left it out on these guys. They don't bother me that much.

Your DC look like they're taken straight out of the art. Jeese.

Thanks!

Many tanks, see what I did there? :P

Heh yup, there's plenty.

amazing stuff dude, the DC and the LR are particularly excellent.

i was torn with the bases but i think the simplicity of them sets teh models off well. :)

Thanks, since most are just rank and file, I didn't want to do something overly complex. My HQ's have skulls added for more flavor but to keep things all consistent.

Wow thats one of the most impressive Blood Angels Armys i`ve ever seen...

Especially your tanks are awesome...Great Job!

Thanks!

  • 3 weeks later...

Just posting a quick update of a pic of my assault squad. Just finished doing the OSL for the power weapons. Still need to clean them up by hand, dry brush the base and do the banner for the sergeant before I spray varnish them. Oh yeah, also need to finish their heads as well :cuss

I'd like to compliment you on the excellent work on your blood angels. Results like this really convince me I got to get my hands on an airbrush sometime soon! :D

If you don't mind, could you write up which colours you used on the powersword and the thunder hammer? I'm also quite curious as to how you applied the object-source lighting (did you drybrush gently, or is it glazing...) Thanks in advance!

Out of all of the lesser red angels ;) your my favorite painter eggroll! Amazing stuff!

Im just int he process of my first devastator squad over in the B&C painting challenge and am hugely inspired by you OSL as mine is more understated but will be making bigger effects for the heavy weapons. A guide on your technique would be MUCH appreciated!

Thanka

Thanks! However, without a camera, it's really hard to describe how to do the actual OSL. I've gone over the steps and paints I use in this WIP blog. It's mostly just spraying the surface areas where the light would hit with the airbrush. Colours used were the same one used for the jump packs on the death co - enchanted blue, ice blue and white.

Thanks EE! For my heavy weapons, I just block out the light source areas in white with a quick wash of the appropriate colour. Then I airbrush the surrounding areas with the right colour. I used green for my lascanons so I ended up doing the glow with scropion green.

Some of the best looking angels on the board. Really Impressed.

Thanks!

Nice work man .. doing BA proud :D

Really like your glow effects... not over the top but also not barely there.. you have the balance just right.. great effect!

Thanks!

Looking at these is REALLY making me consider getting an airbrush for those smoothe early layers :D

Yup, definitely one of the best painting tool investments I've made.

Your painting is excellent, but... Your posing makes me want to cry. They aren't tears of joy either.

I look at the Death Company, and see so many minor tweaks that could have been made to make your models feel like Death Company, as opposed to regular assault marines. It's heavily counterbalanced by your unbelievable painting skills, but your marines go from 'Best painted Blood Angels i've ever seen' to 'Best painted red/black marines I've ever seen'.

Feel free to disregard my opinion, it's your hobby as well as mine, and regardless of posing you are still paint your entire army at Golden Daemon level :)

Thanks and yes I agree the posing could use some work. Got any pointers?

Quick update for tonight...finished off the sergeant model by doing the 2nd company banner on his back. Some of the proportions are a bit off but overall i'm quite happy with how it turned out.

And I thought I was weird for painting every single trooper with maximum care oO

Superb painting and really great OSL.

And your freehands rule!

Thanks!

I went ahead and ordered an airbursh...

My wallet curses your lovely Blood Angels, and my painters spirit sends you nothing but gratitude! :HQ:

Heh good stuff...be sure to post your progress after you start painting and keep at it. Once things start to click and you get used to it, you'll be amazed by the results.

Finally managed to finish off my whole squad and take pictures. I'm happy with the end result though I think I"m going to stick to doing blue eye lenses for yellow helms from now on instead of greens which doesn't have as much contrast. I'll also post some pics of my whole army up to this point soon!

:o :eek ;) bloody amazing brother.

Thanks!

As promised, here are some army shots. Took me awhile to take everything out of my display case and setup. I still have a ton of models to paint. My display case right now has 3/4 levels taken up by my BA army. Might have to buy a new display case soon for the newer models.

Looking at the astarte by astartes pictures of the squad... Your posing improved. You're making them feel like they want to rip into the enemy; you have raised the cahinswords so that they are not merely at the ready, and de-emphasized the pistols by lowering them.

Remember, Blood Angels will take a chainsword over a bolter. Keep that in mind when you build these guys, and it'll help.

Hey eggroll, awesome awesome marines, I am now convinced I have to buy an airbrush... although it will cost half of my 14 year old life savings...

But what model airbrush do you have/recommend, if you don't mind me asking?
