Blood Angels Arena of Death Round 2 Battle 1

Storm Angels Captain Garat versus Captain Karlean, Shield of Baal. Captain of the First Company.

Captain Garat looked across the arena at his opponent. Karlean raised his stormbolter, the first shots deflected off his armor as Garat raced towards him. Suddenly, Karlean launched into the air with his jump pack, continuing to fire bolt shots towards Garat. Some hit his armor with no effect, others flew past him harmlessly.

Karlean landed before Garat, swinging his sword towards him. Garat parried the attacks, his own swings stopped by Karlean's shield.

The two fought for several minutes, neither gaining an advantage. Nearly simultaneously, they each attacked, striking past their opponent's defenses. Garat staggered backwards, but steadied himself before Karlean could take advantage.

Garat fired his infernus pistol, but the shot did nothing, dispersing against Karlean's shield. And again they began to cross swords.

Karlean's Seraph was faster, and again Garat retreated from a new bleeding wound. Before Garat could react, Karlean raised his stormbolter, firing two shots into Garat's chest. Garat's golden armor did not stop the shots this time, and he fell to the dirt.

Both warriors limped from the field to the attention of the Sanguinary Priests.

Victory to Karlean!

ok that concludes to me that infernus pistols are definately useless... but seriously a stormbolter round killed him! myy hate at not being able to get artificer armour just went up. wel done to karlean.

Artificer armor wouldn't have helped. He got 2 stombolter wounds on you and the dice both came up 1.

Sorry Haunter! It was random as to who got the bye.

I hope to get round 3 matchups posted soon (which means I have to get round 2 battles written, which could be tomorrow depending on time issues).

for simplicity I've split the round 2 posts into their own thread.

Blood Angels Arena of Death Round 2 Battle 2

Blood Angels Captain Renik versus Blood Saints Librarian Imrik

Renik fired his jump pack, flying towards Imrik. Imrik focused his psychic power upon Renik, but failed to cause his opponent to seep blood from his pores.
Renik fired his bolt pistol, but missed. Then, swinging his sword, he rushed at Imrik.

Imrik attempted to enhance his force sword, but failed. Renik's attacks were mostly deflected by the terminator armor, but his sword did penetrate once. Imrik held back his pain long enough to plunge his sword past Imrik's armor.

Imrik again tried to power his sword psychically. Again his power failed. Both warriors were slowed from their wounds, unable to penetrate the others defenses.

Finally, as Imrik deflected an attack with his shield, the sword began to glow red. Imrik swung in, piercing through armor into Renik. Renik stood dazed, and Imrik raised his sword to end the fight.

But the field of Renik's Iron Halo defended him long enough to regain complete consciousness and begin to attack. Renik's sword thrust in, deflected at the last moment by Imrik's shield. Then Imrik's sword, still glowing red, cut into Renik's chest, dropping the captain to the arena floor.

Victory to Librarian Imrik

Blood Angels Arena of Death Round 2 Battle 3

Flesh Tearers Librarian Chainer, Master of the Rage versus Blood Guard Captain Irabrai

The final combatants entered the arena. Chainer faced the Flesh Tearers and raised his force claw in salute.

Both walked closer, Chainer psychically enchancing his quickness. But despite the torrent of blows aimed towards Irabai, Chainer was unable to get anything past his shield.

It took several moments of circling each other, testing the other's defense before either managed to score a hit. Chainer's claw dove past Irabai's shield, drawing blood.

Irabai pressed in on the Librarian, slashing his sword wildly. This gave Chainer an opening, and he caught Irabai's sword with his shield pushing it aside and drove his claw into Irabai's chest. Irabai dropped backwards, blood seeping from two cuts.

Chainer rushed in, eager to finish his weakened foe. Irabai found his own opening, finally striking past Chainer's armor. Chainer's claw slashed against Irabai's shield, but did nothing.

Again the two warriors found no openings as they were both hesitant, both feeling the effects of the other's attacks. Again, Chainer thought he saw an opening after several feints and attacks deflected by shield. But as he swung, Irabai readied his sword and swung, piercing into the Librarian's side.

Chainer fell backwards. Irabai helped him to his feet and both turned to the attention of the Priests.

Victory to Captain Irabi

2 captains, a librarian and a reclusiarch remain...

Wow. I might actually start using my Captain in battles now...

Nice sensible battles as well JamesI - i looked at the BT reports yesterday and they're funny, whereas ours are sensible - the way it should be with a well known Chapter

I like the funny ones, but don't feel appropriate writing them.

Well seeing as how it's S6 (captain) to WS5, a captain could potential get more attacks in vs a non beefed up libby. 3+ to hit vs +5 to hit and all.

Libbys just get more attacks or get harder hitting attacks. Surprised there weren't more chaplains.
