Death Company Rhino

I was thinking today about transports. The DC is created from marines in a particular company seeing visions. Each company has 8 rhinos. Six for the tactical squads and two for the devestators. I seem to recall that the assault squads had their own rhinos in the event they dropped their packs. If the DC were to use a rhino for transport, more specifically a black rhino with red x's, where does this rhino come from? Is it a spare the battle company has parked in the garage, is it requisitioned from the chapter armory, or is another squad's rhino borrowed and painted?

I've always assumed that since the DC aren't part of the 'official' chapter force org, that their transports (well rhino's at least) are spare ones that have been painted black (and driven by skilled marines who are used to the suicide missions ;) )

A military without extra hardware on hand constantly is soon to be a military that is very, very dead.

Id not be suprised to find a chapter had 50% of its rhinos replaceable within an hour, and the entire capacity remade within a week if need be. They are after all one of the simplest vehicles available to a marine.

As mentioned above a marine chapter must have a reserve of spare hardware. With the Rhino being the standard transport and baseline vehicle for virtually all space marine armoured vehicles I imagine that the chapter has spares in reserve. Of course, if a battleforce is isolated it may have to re-task a rhino from a line squad but in such circumstances the force is probably taking casualties to its troopers which mean that they've still got enough rhinos for everyone without some unfortunate sane guy having to make up the numbers in the Death Company Rhino.
