xa0s
It seems to me he's rendered obsolete in the 5th edition? I reckon I saw a post saying his psychic power's now obsolete. So with that in mind, why should he be incorporated into the IDH army? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/209795-coteaz/ Share on other sites

Chengar Qordath
5th edition did not render him obsolete; the new Chaos Daemon Codex did. A couple of his powers/abilities were designed with the old Chaos codex in mind, and the 4th edition Daemon codex changed a lot of rules. Coteaz's biggest weakness as a character is that he was designed to kill Daemons; he was never that good against a non-Daemon army. When the new Daemon codex came out, he lost a fair amount of his anti-Daemon appeal as well (though some of his gear, like the Daemonhammer and Grimoire, still works fine). Gentlemanloser
So with that in mind, why should he be incorporated into the IDH army? Beacuse he can have more than the usual amount of Retinue? That being said, I've never used him. Karamzov, that's entirely different. I'd use him every game (with my GK) if he didn't have the outdated 'requires a 1500 point army' restriction. :P The Imperiums only MC, what's not to love! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/209795-coteaz/#findComment-2502708 Share on other sites
Brovius
(though some of his gear, like the Daemonhammer and Grimoire, still works fine). They work damn fine, halving Daemon WS, wounding them on a 2+ at I5 is pretty good. If only he had access to Sacred Incense, then he would be a Daemon-hunting machine Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/209795-coteaz/#findComment-2502724 Share on other sites

If only he had access to Sacred Incense, then he would be a Daemon-hunting machine The problem with Coteaz is that, with several if his anti-Daemon rules non-functional, a GKGM loaded with anti-Daemon gear can do the job just as well if not better than he can at the same point cost while being more useful against other opponents. Oiad
^Bang on. In my eyes, he's long been an obsolete choice. Not helped that fact that he's an expensive, assault-build Inquisitor (even if the retinue options are still flexible). Shame because I really like the model. It could be worse though. I would rather take him over the 285-point monstrosity that is Hector Rex. But the only thing larger than life aobut Rex is his points! I got the mini as a gift, and there was a packaging error, and I ended up with two Rex's! He'll make an awesome Grey Knight with Storm Shield. :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/209795-coteaz/#findComment-2503608 Share on other sites
