Dusktiger
still debating what to use for the head. i dont like faces so i'm leaning towards a helmet. this is also my first real attempt at highlighting armor Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/209798-angels-encarmine/ Share on other sites
SELECT *
Oh, librarians are such a pain in the ass - no one with a helmet. And converting a psychic hood on a helmet looks awfull :( From my point, highlights are a bit thick, especially the one on a right knee pad. Overall - nice librarian. I wish my will turn out similar to yours, as your red is just soooo beatifull! However, he would be white :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/209798-angels-encarmine/#findComment-2502716 Share on other sites
Dusktiger
thanks! i agree, a couple highlights are thicker than i would have liked; it sucks being near-sighted; i keep over compensating on the edging. thankfully when its on the table or at arm's length, the highlighting looks good. if you want my red, every gem tear drop was done as thus: a white primer coat using a can of P3 White Primer a single coat of Blood Red a single coat of Tamiya Clear Red the sword was achieve with 1 coat of boltgun metal, and then i edged the sharped part of the blade with mythril silver, as well as the power weapon 'energy tong' on each side of the blade. then i put 2 gracious coats of the tamiya clear red on after that dried. dont be worried if the 2nd coat looks a little bit thick going on, thats actually a good thing; itll make the 2nd coat dry a little harder and look more red than orange tinged, as some people claim that color looks on a boltgun/mythril basecoat. the slightly thicker 2nd coat also served as a protectant and keep it from chipping and peeling. i used a 5/0 sized brush and let half the length of the bristles get covered in the paint. its an acrylic, so its ok if it looks a bit drippy on the brush, just be mindful of the little spider webs acrylics make, they leave annoying lines of red on the model. i think at least one pic shows where one got me on the chest plate without me realizing before Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/209798-angels-encarmine/#findComment-2502943 Share on other sites

Dusktiger
thats what i thought too at first but its curved the same degree as the model on the GW site. i think its on purpose to represent a natural curve in the spine that most people and animals have. Brax
One thing I noticed is a high gloss on your models. I think if you dull it down a little bit might give a better feel to the model. I would suggest dullcote by testors . Spray it on let sit for 15minutes and you'll see the result is fantastic. I don't see it on all your models but the ones you used quick shade on. Like your librarian and ras. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/209798-angels-encarmine/#findComment-2625442 Share on other sites
