Stu Phoenix
Either green stuff some runes on there or give it texture like leather straps, lookin good otherwise so far bud. :verymad: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/209807-art-true-scale-deathwatch/#findComment-2502956 Share on other sites
ryebye
Either green stuff some runes on there or give it texture like leather straps, lookin good otherwise so far bud. Cheers Stu going to try adding some thin wire around it then add some runes I think, Another little update, Im not 100% sure yet still got to finish some of the green stuff, like the wrists, hips, neck http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b59/spitsfreeman/hev_bolt_1.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/209807-art-true-scale-deathwatch/#findComment-2508487 Share on other sites
ryebye
Alittle more work on the Axe and power fist, and my attempt at greenstuffing a chain on the ankle. http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b59/spitsfreeman/Axe_1.jpg http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b59/spitsfreeman/Axe_2.jpg Now for my attempt at a Librarian, still quite abit todo and im not really so sure about the left / skull shooting arm... http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b59/spitsfreeman/Lib_1.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/209807-art-true-scale-deathwatch/#findComment-2509163 Share on other sites
Token
Good work. That spycic hod is simply a shoulderpad? Not a termie one? Might steal that idea.. ryebye
Go for it I did not use a termie one, its just a normal shoulder pad. I drilled a few holes inside and added in some beeds, I'm going to try and green stuff it alittle later to extend the front. http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b59/spitsfreeman/lib2.jpg Edit new picture : I'm going to make the staff shorter once the legs and waist have been stuck inplace. http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b59/spitsfreeman/lib3.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/209807-art-true-scale-deathwatch/#findComment-2509266 Share on other sites
ryebye
More work on the Librarian and a group shot. http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b59/spitsfreeman/lib_squ_1.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/209807-art-true-scale-deathwatch/#findComment-2511389 Share on other sites
ryebye
Another little update, Im not 100% sure if I like the icons and whatnot "blowing" around the back... C&C please ! http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b59/spitsfreeman/lib_3up_1.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/209807-art-true-scale-deathwatch/#findComment-2512075 Share on other sites
ryebye
Here is the start of my first non space wolf deathwatch marine, a SteamPunk Marine, still need to add a few rivets and file in quite a few places C&C wanted! http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b59/spitsfreeman/steam_marine_wip_1.jpg http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b59/spitsfreeman/steam_marine_wip_2.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/209807-art-true-scale-deathwatch/#findComment-2517688 Share on other sites
Token
Like the Runepriest. The flame/skull thingy is cool. He too is truescale? The steampunk marines head is simply a bead? Works good. Hubernator
For your librarian guy, I suggest cutting 2 circular dips into the near top and removing the extending part, then it would look more like a pyshic hood. ryebye
Thanks Token, yes all of them are Truescale including the Runepriest, and no the steampunk's head is a normal marines head with some small beads added and part of a land raider headlight. (think there is a better view on the picture below). Good idear Hubernator I think I'll give that ago next time I get down to work (ill post up a picture when I do so). Here is a update C&C please! http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b59/spitsfreeman/steam_wip_2.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/209807-art-true-scale-deathwatch/#findComment-2522761 Share on other sites
ryebye
I've not done alot recently but here is a update of my two new additions to the squad (back to space wolfs to bring the squad up to 10) The first has a boltgun but he is my first marine out of the eleven I have done so far to be firing a bolt gun two handed (Thought I needed at lest one in the squad) http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b59/spitsfreeman/sw_dw_bg_wip_1.jpg The second marine is still wip, I am going to add a wolf skin cape around the wire which should cover the join of the left knee. http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b59/spitsfreeman/sw_dw_th_cb_wip_1.jpg As alway C&C welcome, wanted! ryebye
Here is a update, Black Temp and a Dark Angle (the shield is just a proxy) still very much wip http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b59/spitsfreeman/group_1_da_bt_1-1.jpg Next up a Flesh Tearer http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b59/spitsfreeman/ft_1_wip_1-1.jpg And a shot of 5 of my DeathWatch each from diffrent chapters. http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b59/spitsfreeman/all_1_5-1.jpg C&C as always wanted! Dark Apostle Thirst
I think the staff part of the chain... halberd... should be thickened, and given some tech to it. The glaives of the Grey Kinghts have a good example of low profile tech. IMHO, your rune priest's cloak is too cluttered. Other than that, your greenstuffing work is incredible. You have skills I aspire too... I look forward to watching this WIP. I'm suprised there have been very few comments. ryebye
Thanks Dark Apostle I thought I would try too add some tissue/paper around the shaft of the halberd hopfully this will give the effect of flayed skin :) I also adding some tech to it, including a boltgun but it soon looked too big so off came the boltgun. I have just relised that I now need to take the ammo clip off as well! Thank you for your comments on my greenstuff, I am using this Company of DeathWatch to experiment with my greenstuff and plastic card which were almost non existent when I started this post. I relised that quite a few of the WIP shots of my earlyer deathwatch guys are not posted, I'll add them up and you will be able to see the slow improvement model by model, I found a big improvement once I got the corrent tools. Here is update on the Fleash Tearer, still need todo alittle touch up on the green stuff, C&C as always wanted! http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b59/spitsfreeman/ft2_wip1.jpg http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b59/spitsfreeman/ft2_wip2.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/209807-art-true-scale-deathwatch/#findComment-2585757 Share on other sites
Dark Apostle Thirst
Hmmm. I think the arm should be either stretching to the sky or completely lowered. Other than that, it looks excellent, although perhaps you should smooth some sections out (unless you sculpted it as weathering?). ryebye
Thanks, I was trying for a "resting on shoulder" look but it didnt seem to come out well, my green stuff skills still arnt great and getting 100% smooth is beyond me lol but as you say all "odd" bits will be painted as weathering/ battle damage. I have been working on a Ultramarine today but im not really happy with it as yet.. ill post up some pictures later of the wip. here are some of my earlyer marines http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b59/spitsfreeman/wolf_5.jpg http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b59/spitsfreeman/wolf_6.jpg http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b59/spitsfreeman/wolf_4.jpg http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b59/spitsfreeman/wolf_2.jpg http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b59/spitsfreeman/wolf_1.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/209807-art-true-scale-deathwatch/#findComment-2587578 Share on other sites

ephrael
Your sculpting skills are coming along nicely, better than mine. The one small criticism I would make is that the Flesh Tearer's boot soles look a little too thick to me. They look about twice as thick as the other squad members', but it may be a trick of the camera. As to your sculpting, I would recommend trying some Pro Create putty if you can get it. I find it a little easier to work with than Green Stuff especially the ability to sand it smooth when it cures. ryebye
Thanks Apostle, I think painting will be some time away as I have not painted a model in about.... two years and I want to get some practice in first, saying that I am alittle impatient and will prob end up doing them some time over the new year. Thank you Mikhail after looking back at the Flesh Tearer's boot you are right they do look alittle thick I'll need to sort that out at some point! I'll keep a eye out for Pro Create, Im currently experimenting with diffrent ammount of green stuff and white muliput not really found a happy mix yet. Here is an update wip of an Ultramarine which I was not happy about the sword just didnt shout Ultramarine... so alittle arm and head sawp and here we are, still got alot todo - some kind of U symble around the skull in the middel of his chest -more work on the (helmet hair) -work at the waist joint front, back and side. I am also not happy with the shaft of the axe and will remove it and do it again.. maybe to have some kind of leather binding look? / suggestions please! http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b59/spitsfreeman/ultra_0_wip_1.jpg http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b59/spitsfreeman/ultra_1_wip_1.jpg http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b59/spitsfreeman/ultra_1_wip_2.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/209807-art-true-scale-deathwatch/#findComment-2590486 Share on other sites

Dark Apostle Thirst
How did I miss these last two updates? I'm just going to repeat what I said before - nice construction skills but you need to get some paint on them! C'mon, my friend, I'm a terrible painter and I still paint my somewhat beautifully converted miniatures! No-one like a grey army ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/209807-art-true-scale-deathwatch/#findComment-2762011 Share on other sites
ryebye
Thanks Dark Apostle! I know what you mean about paint! lol to be honest I've not painted a model in about 3 years now and I'm scared to start lol! But I set my self a target! once I've made 20 I will paint them! I have 18 now including this new addition below, Another very much wip salamander! Two more to go then paint! one I know already will be a Iron Hand with heavy bolter, and another will be a Liberian of some description. http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b59/spitsfreeman/sala_1and2_wip.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/209807-art-true-scale-deathwatch/#findComment-2762755 Share on other sites
