Ryjak
So I've decided to get a collection of terrain so I can turn any flat 4x4 tabletop into a ruined Imperial City, hopefully with a lot of verticality. While I have the talent to build this kind of board fairly cheaply, what I don't have is the time. So, I've been looking for some models I could buy, trading time for $$$. Looking at GW's Terrain page, the Imperial Sector looks like a pretty solid buy, as do the Honored Imperium, the Urban Barricades and Walls, the Moonscape Craters, and the Battlefield Accessories. Looking at Forgeworld's terrain page, I like the Dragon's Teeth Tank Traps, the Sewer Entrances, the Cities of Death Booby Traps, the Underground Building Entrances, maybe the Imperial Land Mines, the Imperial Water/Fuel Tank, the Power Generator, and of course, the 40k Barbed Wire. Unfortunately, those are the only sites I know of for buying terrain. Most of my serches turned up sites for building terrain, junk, or good-quality stuff for other games (like Dwarven Forge Terrain I might buy a Cavern set or a Sci-Fi Passage set for ship interiors...) I did stumble on one manufacture of terrain and battle boards: Ziterdes I really like their "sci-fi" themed modular terrain. I bet four of those with a bunch of ruined buildings on top would look great. There's also Gale Force 9, Armorcast, and Urban Mammoth Terrain that looked decent. The stuff at Terran Scapes looks phenominal, but wow... that's a lot of $. Then again, they are fully modeled and painted. Any suggestions or reviews would be greatly appreciated. The Oakenshield
Wayland Games stocks a bunch of good terrain, and for cheap. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/209905-building-a-4x4-city-board/#findComment-2503923 Share on other sites
Brother Anvilus
1 piece of advice: Ziterdes isn't very good when it comes to solidness of terrain.we had it at our LGS and it regularly broke, so not a very good investment :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/209905-building-a-4x4-city-board/#findComment-2505748 Share on other sites
chromedog
Depends a lot on which pieces. Much like GW. I have several of their 'modern' urban battlefield pieces and they are quite sturdy. On par with the heavy duty foamcast FW and old GW pieces that I have just acquired. I'd also look into the Pegasus Gothic city building sets. Assemble easily, don't look out of place next to GW stuff (if a little better looking due to lack of skulls EVERYFRICKENWHERE). Some come with large buttresses and spire caps, too. PH also do craters (painted and unpainted), sandbag walls (straight AND curved), barbed wire sections, barrels and so on.
