The saga of Baldor Wolfkin

Brother Ironheart

Recommended Posts

Hey all, i was thinking of a great way to really put some story into my space wolves army: To have my "me" character to start his saga as a bloodclaw to hopefully a full-fledged wolf lord and had a few questions to sort things out:

1. How many battles between each promotion would it take? Or would it be good to rank through "deeds" like landing the killing blow to a carnifex, Duelling a warboss and winning (I do have an ork army i would just get a friend to play them)?

2. In you guys opinions what would be a good "gift for your deeds weapon" that would also be useful in all situations weapon (I want my guy to be more close-combat, because i love epic duels)

3. This is more of a general question: Can someone explain how a space wolf becomes a scout without looking like a regular marine scout on steriods? I mean when space marines get their gland implants, it makes their bones, arms, legs, etc. etc. grow bigger, but how can they look like scouts if they start with power armour bloodclaws?

4. What would be considered "reputable" kills? The ones i really should keep track of, i know enemies like hive tyrants, chaos lords, and DE archons but what other kinds of foes would be good? tyranid primes? Bloodthirsters? Necron lords?

thnx

Welcome pup! come sit here by the fire and have a stein of our finest ale while i give you the answers you seek.

first of all a space wolf doesn't advance through the ranks on his own but in his pack, that's the reason why our long fangs(most senior battle brothers) have a maximum size of 6, having lost members of their original pack through the years. it can take many many years before a blood claw pack become grey hunters and in most occasions their pack size will have gone down too. a formidable deed however can result in a single member of the pack to be promoted into the wolf guard.

second; you mean game wise or fluff wise? game wise a powerweapon of some sort is very useable taking maximal use of your high initiative, however if you mant a weapon that can deal with anything you'll want a thunderhammer, powerfist, or chainfist. fluffwise i'd take a thunderhammer every day as they seem as fast as a powerweapon.

third; a space wolf scout is just stripped off his powerarmour and given scout armour, there's nothing more to it. you mean that our scouts need to look like freshmen, sleek and tender? nah! they are veterans in every right, scars all over them.

fourth; every HQ imo as well as multiple units i mean come one, what sounds best?

"today I, erik horgarson killed a single carnifex in hand to hand combat my lord!"

"ar! but today rolf fredrikson single handedly killed over a hundered heretic guardsmen"
