Silvtalon
I been working on my space wolves slowly after the ard'boy's semi finals I attended. I saw some really good space wolf forces on the field that day and was impressed with them. I already collected a good number of space wolf stuff for small battles but now I am looking to expand my forces.. The list below is something I am putting together that I think will be very competitive for 1850 game play. HQ Wolflord frost axe runic armor belt of russ 2x fenrisian wolves saga of the bear Melta bomb (Optional) Wolf tooth necklace Wolf priest Wolf tooth necklace (optional) Wolf talisman The Wolflord joins the thunderwolves using his wargear to absorb instant death or ap weapons you don't feel like taking a save on. But you should keep in mind they are very useful as a way to allocate str 10 power weapon attacks to as well. Since they are war gear they can be ablative wounds for your wolflord so to speak. The wolf priest joins the drop pod greywolf squad to make them fearless and to provide a nice tactical advantage for taking objectives or making a quick hard strike at a weak flank. The optional marks are there if you wanted to switch out those points for a plasma weapon for your wolf priest. If I could scrounge up another 15 points I'd toss a plasma pistol into the grey wolf squad in the drop pod. Elite Wolf Guard 3 SWG 2 wolf claws 2 Storm bolters terminator armor Thunder hammer and storm shield. The wolfguard are split up to be the leaders of the two grey hunters in the transports (the wolfclaw armed wolf guard) While the terminator armored with storm shield and thunder hammer provide the long fangs much needed support to soak up any heavy hitting damage and deter anyone wanting to charge them. Troops Grey Hunters 5 SW plasma gun power fist mark of the wolfin Razor back (no upgrades) Grey Hunters 5 SW plasma gun power fist mark of the wolfin Razor Back (no upgrades) Grey hunters 9 SW meta gun powerfist mark of the wolfin Drop pod (no upgrades) The two razor back squads provide cover for the thunderwolves or run along side of them depending on if you get first turn or not. The job of these two teams is to provide support for the wolf mounted calvery by shooting or assaulting. The drop pod greyhunters will be used to take out weak flank and provide a distraction or help take a objective quickly making the enemy go towards them as bait luring them closer so the thunderwolf clavery can reach them faster. It all depends on placement and mission. Fast Attack Thunderwolf calvery 5 TWC 4 Storm shields thunder hammer melta bomb This is the focus of your army your driving ball and chain everything works around it so it can do its job. You get in and hit hard as possible and keep rebounding off everything you run into to keep the hurt on. Yes its a gamble but with how tough they are and with the proper support most players will ignore them until its to late. Heavy Predator Turret - Auto Cannons Sponsons - Las Cannons Predator Turret - Auto Cannons Sponsons - Las Cannons Long Fangs 5 SW 1 SL 5 Missile Launchers The predators focus on taking out all tanks and transports or monstrous creatures.. The Long fangs help when needed to target tanks but will primarily focus on eliminating specialty squads or large troop configurations. Let me know what you think.. This is how I plan on using them... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/209918-1850-space-wolves-listing-comments-welcome/ Share on other sites
