JD_Jess
Hopefully this is the right section but what does everyone use when building terrain. I've got plenty of builing sections and I've collected a junkyard of rubble but what kind of base do you use? paintner
my friend who got some of these don't use anything for some of the larger 'corner' things he put together. otherwise it's everything from thick plasticcard to thin MDF or plywood. JD_Jess
Thanks, I'm looking at a 1/4 inch hard board, it should be light enough, sturdy and easy to shape. The foam seems a bit to flimsy and a bit hard to round and work the edges. Gurth
I'd go for thinner hardboard than that. 3 mm is sturdy enough but doesn't create such a visible "step" around each building — unless, of course, you want to use that to represent the pavement (sidewalk). JD_Jess
Thanks Gurth, thats exactly what I'm looking for. I'll check my local hardware store and see what I can dig up! Gurth
You can very likely have them saw it to size for you, which is especially handy if you want tiles of all the same size. I've got a Miniature Scenery Battle Grounds set, for example, and once bought MDF at my local hardware store that I had them saw to the same size as the tiles from that (now all I need to do someday is actually build some terrain on those MDF squares I have lying around B)). chromedog
I use 3mm mdf sheet. Cut to shape with a jigsaw. It's the same thickness as a GW slottabase and holds the pieces together and prolongs their useful life. It's also cheap and takes paint easily.
