Taz
BA has some kick-arse infantry sure enough, but I would think that, with all of our rhino variants counting as fast, I would have seen more armor-heavy lists around. I'm wondering what what ideas you have about vehicle-heavy lists. At what point limit makes packing vehicles feasible? What would you guys take? I was toying with the idea of blitzing with vindicators and a single predator with twin linked las with matching sponsons. Drudge Dreadnought
I'm very tempted to make a 6 predator list once I'm done with my Jump army. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/210495-rollin-red/#findComment-2506169 Share on other sites
BrotherMoses
Our armour is indeed fierce and tanks can be a lot of fun to play! Baal predators are a staple and I never leave home without them these days. In a heavy armour list I would roll with 3 of them. In my mind, they're better than vindicators. I would make fielding atleast 2 Baals a priority before I allocated points for heavy support. Vindicators strike fear into the hearts of all of the Emperor's enemies so next I would consider them. Then I would take a predator with an autocannon turret and a lascanon sponson set. This predator exists to take down enemy armour from afar. That said, autocannons are pretty efficient at taking down rhinos. Lascanons are just too expensive to have two sets. Thats around 500 points right there. From there you can add in an extra vindicator and Baal if you wish or move on to the core of your army. I would suggest either heavy flamer razorbacks or lascannon/tlpg razorbacks for your troops. If you do the heavy flamers then give the guys inside a melta weapon. Either a sarge with a combi-melta or an assault marine with a melta gun. You definitely want to have enough antitank in your army to cope with enemy tanks. Hvy flamers are cool because you can roll up, jump out, melta open a transport and then heavy flamer the contents. I like the other configuration because you could pop tanks at range and then charge, and the plasma gun is useful against low AV and monstrous creatures. I suggest razorbacks only because then you may save some money over buying 10 marines with a rhino. You may not wish to go that way, which is fine. Don't forget your melta/antitank. If you go the razorback route I would suggest sanguinary priests to supplement your troops. Possibly one for every squad depending on points, except for the squad to be accompanied by your HQ. For HQ I could see a combat captain or possibly a librarian with some neat abilities. I personally don't like combat monkey librarians, but you could do that if you want or any number of other things. Remember to have fun brother! I put together a 2500 point list that implements some of these very ideas, thought without quite as many heavy flamers. I debated putting a priest squad in but I instead opted to fill the elites with a TAS with a LRC with multimelta as a retinue for the libby, a techmarine with some servitors and a Furioso with talons. Joasht
I think given the fact that Blood Angels can have a higher number of tanks/Dreads as compared to other Space Marine chapters, its fairly easy to go for an "Armored Company". Off the top of my head if you want to go really nuts with the Armored Company style, I'd think of something like six Predators (or mix in some Vindicators), 3 Furioso's in Drop Pods, maybe a Furioso Libby, and everyone in Razors. Thats a lot of armor, and I think it would BARELY fit in a 2000 point game if you don't go nuts on the upgrades. Of course you could go with Land Raiders, but Land Raiders aren't fast and are expensive, so the end result is you end up with about as many vehicles as a regular Space Marine army. EDIT: I just re-read Brother Moses's post, the only thing I kinda disagree about is taking several Sanguinary Priests. The way I look at it, Sanguinary Priests are force multipliers; this means that if you don't have many infantry to begin with it is less "worth it" than when you have more troops. If you are taking a lot of vehicles chances are you will lack troops. Probably one, possibly two if you feel naked without the second one, but seriously no more than that. Yes your men would die easier without the Priest, but Priests aren't cheap and depending on how nuts you go with your vehicle count/upgrades chances are taking them would end up being a detriment, simply because for every one you take you are forgoing extra bodycounts, which matters when your opponents start throwing things at you that ignore FnP. Besides, FC is sometimes (not always) wishful thinking when your infantry move at 6" as opposed to 12" with packs/bikes. Zeller
I run tacticals mounted in rhinos. Commanders run with a razorback or a small squad in rhino. I always take a Baal and Destructor in every list outside 500 points. In larger games I add a speeder squadron, bike squadron, vindicator, and more tactical squads in rhinos. If the DC want to fight then they have their rhino as well. However, in smallish games (1000) or less I opt to not take rhinos simply so I can get more predators and guns. BrotherMoses
I do agree with Joasht in that priests aren't cheap and the Sanguinary Priest idea may not be completely sound. Just remember not to neglect your troops. Every battle brother loss is a grave wound indeed.
