How did you make your Talons?

I'm looking to make a Blood Talon equipped Dreadnought but I’m not keen on the Forgeworld arms. So my question to you is this, how did you make your Blood Talons?

I'd love to see some photos if you can post them. Feel free to show off your counts as, work in progress’s and scratch builds. I’m looking for some really good original ideas.

i traded for a rit drad cw off the ironclad, hen u at t to remove the ends of fingers and the ribbing from between. I then took the left over spikes from my trygon and added them to the end of th fingers. not to extream as i may want to use the as blood fists or talons depending on what build i want. anyways pics...

I used very much the same techniques as the above poster a good few months ago. You can see my progress in this thread: http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.p...=197397&hl=

And for peeps who don't like trawling old posts here is a picture.

Those claws look pretty awesome. Very talon-y :D

I myself was planning on getting a hold of some hands from the venerable dreadnought kit and making lightning claws that look just like those on terminators or normal marines. Essentially a scaled up version of the claws that normal marines wear. may scrap that idea and go for the talons just like those you made.

Well, there is always magnets (what I intend to do once I get around to it) but the forgeworld CCW's do make a good cross breed between the two weapons...

Funnily enough the big fella in red will be magnatized to allow ranged weapons, just I'm lazy and don't want to spend to much time painting all those close combat weapons lol

Anyways, back to the OP - have you thought about the ones from Paulson Games? Do a search on here, they are very schexy!

If you intend to switch between the bloodfist and blood talons, I would magnetize the hands rather than the arms.

For plastic models, it doesn't make sense to clue the arms and it only makes sense to magnetize the arms if they are too loos ( there is enough space to glue a small magnet and leave the arm nub intact). Additionally, you can glue a washer to the torso around the arm nub then glue a magnet onto the arm side. This will make sure it stays put and allow you to pose the arm however you like. Trouble is finding a flat enough washer with a big enough hole to go around the arm nub.

I used the FW arms and the metal Ork dread buzz sawarms to make my FT dread with blood talons.

By the way.

A few months ago I read in a threat that noone really knows what the talons of the DC dread in the codex were made of. I just asked the owner of the GW Store in Erfurt last week an he was pretty shure that those things are "old slave swords". I dont have a clue what this means since I only play 40k and only for about 1 year now - but maybe it helps...

here's the link for the death co. dread with the lightning claws from the old SW dreads. back in the day when you used to be able to buy bitz, i picked up a few. ( luckily i had them for so long i found a use)

I did a couple dreads up with the FW claws. They worked fine in the last edition and look just right for blood claws in this edition, although I think they could use a new 'power sword' type paintjob.
