And here we are, the fight for the title of Ultramarines sub-forum Champion! Remember, after this, should the winner of this wish to rise to B&C champion, there will be at least another seven fights to go...

Honor-Guard Grand Champion Raideus vs Brother-Captain Silon Almach

Turn in your special instructions within 24 hours, and you might be able to expect results by Friday (I'm gonna make it a good story, thus I needz time to write it :P).

If you are just tuning in to this whole duelling business, check out the Round 1 and Round 2 battles to see how we came to this matchup.

It's still my Friday! :whistling:

RL calls me away for the moment, so while you have the results, you don't yet have a neat story to go with it. Fear not! It shall come soon...

If the Mod says it's Friday, then it's Friday! :D

EDIT: Wait, we have the results? Hey, sweet. I will still wait for an awesome story, though.

Writer's block. This one will be a departure from the other stories. Some might laugh, some might cry, some might point and shout "McNeill-izm!!!" Or not, who knows. But the one who did request a detail to this story is indeed getting his wish...

Sorry it's so late, but here it is! I hope you enjoy the finale, as it was pretty fun to write. It took me long enough to connect the dots and I apologize again, but anyway yea! Fight!

As the Ultramarines filed in the combat chamber, Marneus Calgar, Master of the Ultramarines looked on in anticipation. "This should be interesting," he thought, remembering what Chief Librarian Tigurius had told him about the outcome here. He scarcely believed it, and wanted to see the result here and now.

Brother-Captain Silon Almach entered, and behind him came the ten sergeants of his company. They chuckled to themselves before lining up, their back banners rolled up for the occasion. Finally, Honor-Guard Grand Champion Raideus strolled in, ready to beat down he-who-was-not Honor Guard.

Almach smiled and said, "Now boys!" As one, each sergeant pulled a drawstring attached to their banners, and they unfurled in resplendent blue. Each had a brilliant white letter, and as they were lined up abreast, it read "Go Atmach!" The other sergeants turned and looked at the fifth sergeant with the "t" and shook their heads. The fourth smacked him upside the head for his stupidity. Captain Silon turned back to look proudly at his sergeants and simply facepalmed with a sigh instead. "Oh well, maybe next time for number four there," he thought.

Turning back, he called out, "I propose a different way to duel today, honored brother."

"Go on," Raideus replied.

"What say we don't use our crackly power weapons, eh?" said Silon.

Raideus simply shrugged and agreed, and serfs stepped forward to take their respective power weapons. As they withdrew, the two combatants faced each other once more.

"BEGIN!" roared Calgar, excitement lending volume to his voice.

And so it did. They rushed each other, powerful chops of their armored gloves raining upon each other, bouncing off shields and armored plates. Honored Champion Raideus used every trick at his centuries-old disposal, and Almach started to feel its affect. Sometimes he'd hit the weak points in his armor; sometimes they even punched storm shields at each other. Each time they connected a discharge of energy separated them again, but not for long. Fortunately for Brother-Captain Almach, he was a quick and wily one. On the fourth time they were knocked apart by the connecting shields, he spun around and in that split second, attached a krak grenade to the outward edge of his storm shield, affectionately known as Bulwark of Faith; Raideus didn't notice, so intent was he upon the near victory. When their codex-suggested tactic of punching with shields came up again they connected with a entirely more powerful detonation than the Grand Champion was prepared for.

Protected as he was by the shield in between him and the exploding grenade, Silon was safe from its affects. Unfortunately for Raideus, his shield decided to simply become a piece of fairly useless metal at that inopportune moment, so it was wrecked and he was sent flying. He was prone on the ground for a moment before slowly sitting up, dazed. Brother Captain Silon Almach walked over, and with an audible THNK! took his shield two-handed and brought it down flat on the poor Honor Guard's head, who continued to sit befuddled, but swaying more than before.

The surrounding Ultramarines roared for the victory as Almach reached down to help his honored brother up. Calgar clapped and laughed, still hardly believing that rarely-used trick in the book was really the finishing move.

"Good fight, honored brother," Silon said.

"Aye, good indeed. Do us proud," Raideus replied.

Huzzah!

Another forum Champion!

Congratulations Admech and Khorne Hunter!

Of course the result was expected ~ even a lapsed Knight will beat down a Codexite, book knowledge only gets you so far in life :teehee:

I am a little sad though, as I'd hoped no 3++ guys were going to get through  .

I guess relic blade or lightning claw both hurt [83 or 75%] but I'm glad the Claw got through.

Good luck and may the Emperor guide you true.
