Started updating my old wolves as well as doing the new ones, but i am not satisfied with how the SG/SWG ones are coimg out at the moment!!!

I am temped to do them Adpetus battle grey/codex grey/ fortress grey but is there a major difference in the colours fluff wise?

I am not really interested in the pre heresy kinda stuff.

Just wondered if it would cause ructions with opponents if i rock up with codex grey wolves?

I found out that blue is easier for me than grey. I painted tons of grey 5 years ago when I entered in 40K with 13th company. When the new dex came out and I restarted my wolves, I decided to go with blue-grey and it offers to me much more possibilities.

The Space Wolves have never changed their colour scheme since the Heresy (as far as I know). What happened was that the 'Eavy Metal painters stopped using grey and instead starting using the baby blue colour. Maybe it was better to photgraph, maybe it appealed to people more who knows.

Bascially paint them whatever colour you prefer, and ignore anyone who complains. You pay the money and put them together so its down to you to paint them how you like.

I agree...yer pref...I used a battle blue grey for a while as it was a cheaper paint and with 100 figs to paint seemed more cost effective...now I use the shadow grey base and then highlight through SW grey...it's close to my original works and allows more lee way when I make a booboo
The first is dumb, the second is cool. And no one better argue with me, because I know my own opinion better than anyone else does.

Well then maybe you should present it as opinion rather than fact...

Personally i prefer the SG, maybe this is because i only started 40k 5 years ago.

Blue-grey VS grey-grey, Whats the difference?

Well, I could agree with you, but then we would both be wrong :ermm:

So, yeah, nobody will care. Personal preference.

I believe the guy who painted the current codex minis used a mix of shadow and codex grey (maybe fenris?) for the basecoat. Then highlights up to Space Wolf grey. Washes with thinned brown, etc. I prefer a less blue grey as I think the GW minis tend towards more of a Carolina or powder blue than grey.

Hmm, I wonder what the point of that whole second sentence was. That... no, it couldn't be could it, well maybe, just maybe, the point of that sentence was to make it abundantly clear that this was an opinion of mine.

Reading is fundamental, Max.

I prefer the blue-grey approach. Why? Because battle damage looks better on lighter colors in my opinion and I just like how devlan mud looks around the legs of my marines - dirty, grimy, yummy.

I also paint the eyes of my Space Wolves bright orange, my weapons have golden ornaments and the fur and tails that I paint have an orange tint to them, which complements the blue power armor.
