DarKHaZZ13
Before I egt hit in the face with a nemesis force weapon, I love the grey knights models I do, they are well detailed, some of GW's best I'd say. However, when you have more than a squad of them they look like, well. put it this way....its like having an army made of AOBR marines. THEY ALL LOOK THE SAME!! now, i've seen the tutorial in the librarium of how to make grey knights form plastic terminators. which is quite cool. but to be honest theres alot more to the grey knights than just terminators. So has anyone seen, planning or got any original looking grey knights? How would you go about making grey knights form plastic components etc... What intresting conversions are out there. I understand searchy is my friend here....but a collective effort of insipration here would be amazingly helpfull on a side note, if anyone has any of the same of sisters of battle that would be ace the death watch - terminators and so on inquisitors and henchmen are welcome to so lets see what the B&C has got. :( Viva Imperium Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/210627-grey-knights-and-their-awesome-ability-of-boringness/ Share on other sites
DarKHaZZ13
SO you guys know what I'm on about I'll start the ball rolling with this GUY Probably one of the most simple conversions, but all in all a pretty decent looking alternatrive to the classic Stern conversion. (I'm sick to death of seeing him to be honest!) And then theres these from asianavatar at heresy online I think they are quite nice to be honest Though in all fairness the new sanquin guard kit is amazing in any context! I also found these custodes at GoG online...I think some of the ideas would make some nice GK's I'd love to see some tutorials out there....but bar the plastic GKT one in the librarium I can't find any Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/210627-grey-knights-and-their-awesome-ability-of-boringness/#findComment-2507462 Share on other sites
bulley
I have the original models - about 7 of them, actually my own originals from about 25 years ago, unfortunatly the arms/weapons were very brittle after a while and i've had to look to replace them now I am building my new army, but I will use 1 squad of normal GKT's and the classics for my 2nd. DarKHaZZ13
I currently have 1 sqaud of the current metal PAGK's and 1 squad of metal GKT's. Its just where to go from there basically. For PAGK heads I'm thinking the crusader pattern black templar head/Space marine champion head would make a decent plastic alternative. but bodies, legs, arms, weapons. and in what posses then what about GKT's? I've got 10 spare AOBR terminators a couple will probably become deathwatch, but that still leaves me with a few spare. The head is a simple couple of cuts but what abotu weapons for them? and how to make them look more....epic? Gentlemanloser
Search for old threads? I've made a couple about how I made plastic PAGK. I even posted pics. There's a tutorial for making plastic TAGK from normal Termies and the BT upgrade tabards. I think that's even on the French GW site, unless it's ben taken down recently. But we're all hanging on the new year, with the rumours of a new Dex and plastic kits. There's also a Tutorial for cutting plastic Termie heads to make them lok more GKish. DarKHaZZ13
There's also a Tutorial for cutting plastic Termie heads to make them lok more GKish. I know, its in my first post. And I did do searches, and came upw ith the same old stuff. for years now GK players 'wait for the new year' for the update. its been years now. I'm not waiting around. I've been meaning to start my army for ages. I havn't seen those PAGK plastics, if you could linky I'd be greatfull =] oh and as promissed the very, very rough wip GKT terminator using black reach terminators and metal GKT arms. + oh, did I mention what was one single model became a squad? I got bored. and my fave so far, the Justicar Squad shot Like I said, Very WIP, most havn't even been altered using the guide, but they all will get grill/crusader helms, purity seals....the works bassically. I also had ago at making my own wrist mounted storm bolter so I could add more variety to additional squads. not bad for a first attempt. Gentlemanloser
The old pics I took of my PAGK as wip. Made from; BT/SM Champion Helm. BT Tabard Chest PAGK Right arm / SM Champion Right Arm / Other new Power Weapon Arms TAGK Left Arm (the metal PAGK left arms shoulder pads are slightly larger than usual and I feel the TDA arms fit nicely) SM legs without Kneecaps SM Assault Termie Groin Plates as Thigh Guard (don't think these are in any of the pics below, were later additions) I never got the backs sorted, wanted to get a Cloak for them from somewhere. http://i368.photobucket.com/albums/oo127/Gent_Loser/100_0665.jpg http://i368.photobucket.com/albums/oo127/Gent_Loser/100_0666.jpg http://i368.photobucket.com/albums/oo127/Gent_Loser/100_0668.jpg http://i368.photobucket.com/albums/oo127/Gent_Loser/100_0669.jpg http://i368.photobucket.com/albums/oo127/Gent_Loser/100_0664.jpg I boo-boo'ed on the Psycannon one, by leaving him with his NFW. Oiad
The terminator models are starting to look fantastic (can't wait to see them fully painted) but I'm not sure about the power-armoured models. It's most likely the glaring lighting reflecting off the metal, possibly emphasising the parts but the arms look slightly too long - almost ape-like. It's most likely the glaring lighting reflecting off the metal is emphasising the parts but the arms look slightly too long - almost ape-like. Thev'e got a long way to go before then haha. But I look forward to painting them too. The PAGK look alright to me. I get what you mean about 'ape arms' I think it's because from here it looks like he's used GKT storm bolters. But its certainly something to throw into the ideas pit :o Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/210627-grey-knights-and-their-awesome-ability-of-boringness/#findComment-2508658 Share on other sites
Gentlemanloser
They look better 'in the flesh' so to speak. :) The left arms are slightly bigger, but the arms are generally the same dimension. It's the Storm Bolters (or the Psycannon) themselves, and the Shoulder Pads, that make the arms look larger than they should. And the metal PAGK have slightly larger left pads, so I don't mind it too much (Plus I like the semi anime nature of the larger armour!). Oiad
Yeah, you can recognise they're Terminator arms. DarKHaZZ13
I've been working on some PA wrist mounted storm bolters....as well as a single PAGK. bulley
The NFW are PA versions and the SB/Psy are Term versions right? Is there anywhere get to get NFW for terms? I'd quite like to kit my old school ones out since 2 of them have had the old old NFW broken and I just converted them up (1 has a TH other has a NFW kitbashed out of Dark Elve pieces oddly enough) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/210627-grey-knights-and-their-awesome-ability-of-boringness/#findComment-2508862 Share on other sites
Gentlemanloser
Yeah, you can recognise they're Terminator arms. Nice way to try and keep both the NFW and have a psycannon on a PAGK. Yeah, I got all excited originally and made two of those guys, then remembered they lose thier NFW as well... ;) I've been working on some PA wrist mounted storm bolters....as well as a single PAGK. I don't have the bitz right now to finish the squad haha I stopped my conversions in disgust when GW took the GK bits off thier site. /sigh My mates know my GKs for all missing arms, as I butcher some to make others. :D You can get a nice pack of 5 x Psycannon arms. Really? Who would *ever* need that GW. /sigh Is there anywhere get to get NFW for terms? Not any more. But you can (IIRC) get 5 x PA NFW arms. Really? Who would *ever* need that GW. /sigh It never ceases to annoy me. seriously. why not throw it out and stock the sotrm bolter and/ specifically or the GKT nemesis force weapon. I've had such a hard time finding an alternative! It still pains me that they killed the bitz service. I know exactly why they did, as they told me when I worked there. Even still it never ceases to frustrate my efforts in conversion work. anyways I updated my Grey Knight blog and my WIP topic. Been doing some grey knights with plastic arms. The start of the show though is my plastic concept PAGK inspired by Gentlemanloser he's only a concept so he's quite rough: Close up for the storm bolter, on a power armour arm. Comparison with its metal counterpart I think he looks alright to be honest. Anyone else got some stuff they wanna show. right now I'm all open for ideas. Esspecially seeing as I can't find anywhere that has the PA crusader helm in stock. Anyone know of a site, or a tutorial? thanks for looking and for any future/past contributions :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/210627-grey-knights-and-their-awesome-ability-of-boringness/#findComment-2509043 Share on other sites
Gentlemanloser
Very close to the Metal ones! :) I think it's more for the GKT, but there's a tutorial out there for making plastic Nemesis Force Halbards. (To be honest, the reason I started making pastic PAGK is while I tihnk the GKT are the best mini's GW has mad,e I dislike the metal PAGK :) Too much 'lord of the dance'!) DarKHaZZ13
yeah with the thunder hammers. my problem is I don't own any terminator weapons other than sotrm bolters and power fists...i only had a couple of sword arms. why I hear you ask? answer - I have 20 AOBR terminators lol I don't mind ordering bitz here and there, but I'd like to keep it to a minimum. Bishoujo
Here's a couple of non-standard Grey Knights in my army. A pair of Thunder Hammer / Storm Shield Terminators and my Grand Master. They don't look very good, and my painting is pretty fail on these models compared to where I'm at now, but I'll share them anyways. http://lh6.ggpht.com/_w1JrFon8EI0/S9y3ISAAXHI/AAAAAAAABt4/bMU5EF6eyUg/s512/DSCN0639.JPG http://lh3.ggpht.com/_w1JrFon8EI0/S9y3JElyTvI/AAAAAAAABuA/H2bfuOWWix4/s512/DSCN0644.JPG http://lh4.ggpht.com/_w1JrFon8EI0/S9y3Jqa1bRI/AAAAAAAABuI/CfQqez0BwVg/s512/DSCN0645.JPG Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/210627-grey-knights-and-their-awesome-ability-of-boringness/#findComment-2513854 Share on other sites
