Khavos
The GW-painted models for Flesh Tearers seem to use a much deeper, almost maroonish red than standard Blood Angels red, and I was just wondering if anyone knew the color or recipe that manages to get that shade? TheDarkApostle
Where as the Blood Angels are based around a Blood Red color scheme the Flesh Tearers IIRC are based around a Red Gore / Scab Red scheme. It's possible that the color names are a bit different nowadays as I've been out of the loop for some time. I actually used a 50/50 Red Gore/Scab Red mix in my old scheme, I believe, and I don't think it was quite as dark as the Flesh Tearers' red looks to be. TheDarkApostle
Hmm, mixed with some brown for a even darker shade over a black base should do the trick I think. -Q-
I have in the past built up from a deep purple base over black undercoat, mixing in reds as I build up. My main advice though, my secret weapon, is Magenta Ink. I don't know if anyone makes it anymore, before GW went to their "washes" line I stocked up on their Magenta Ink. If you can get some then try it out over different shades of red until you find one you like. But it's that purplish-red tone in the ink that really separates Flesh Tearers from other Sons.
