Sgt. Blank
I've been slowly converting a couple more Obliterators for my Chaos army and would appreciate any comments or opinions folks can share. Here's the first one: http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa197/Phothomas82/Chaos/CIMG1868.jpg http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa197/Phothomas82/Chaos/CIMG1867.jpg I'm pretty happy with it - the torso and legs are a Chaos terminator, the upper right arm is from a loyalist, the lower part is an old shoulder mounted metal lascannon. The right arm is a Chaos powerfist with a hand flamer and the drill from the Necromunda pit slave blister. Obliterator #2 http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa197/Phothomas82/Chaos/CIMG1872.jpg http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa197/Phothomas82/Chaos/CIMG1873.jpg Not so sure about this one, I'm slightly concerned the whole is less than the sum of the parts. The torso is a old metal loyal terminator, the head from a pit slave. The right "arm" a combination of more pit slave bitz and a plasma pistol. The left arm a chainfist, an old plasma gun and a heavy flamer. For reference, they'll be painted like this: http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa197/Phothomas82/Chaos/CIMG1690.jpg Thoughts? darthgus
Obliterators are a tough one, I've never seen a model that really manages to do justice to the concept. First one is better than the second, I think it might be the head! Sgt. Blank
I completely agree - and that's a lot of why I wanted to convert something - I am not a huge fan of the stock GW models and had a lot of old models laying around just begging to be chopped up. darthgus
Its very hard to represent a shape shifting model, basically because a miniature has to be static. The trend with Obliterators is to make them 'fat' and 'pulpy' but I have never been a fan of this look. I have been thinking a lot about how to to represent shape shifters because I'm interested in building a Dornian Heresy Raven Guard miniature, but so far I've not come up with a satisfactory concept.
