Good day everyone.

Some time has past but I got the flight deck finished. My two crack pilots are ready to fly this large brick of doom where ever the Captain says.

Head on:

Part of the spine will be removable to access the battery and light switch, so I'll use magnets to hold it in place.

More to come as its finished.

Good day everyone.

The cockpit and dorsal spine are done. I used two magnets to secure the spine to the top of the ship, so I can remove it to access the switch and battery area.

I can also start adding the external armour plate and panel detail. So things should go a little faster now. I hope.

So here is the dorsal spine complete:

And here is a top view showing it removed for access:

These next two show the rear ramp opened and closed. (Held in place by magnets)

The next step is to get the armour added and the wings attached. I still have to work out how to mount the six missiles the gunship carries. I am thinking either a single rack on each wing with three missiles attached. Or mounting them in a pod attached to the side of the gunship. I'll see.

Anyway all for now.

Thanks for the kind words and comments. B)

As for the long gun barrel, what I was trying to do was show the weapons on a Thunderhawk and not have anyone need to guess what they are. The FW model has the big long gun on top to represent a battle cannon or turbo laser destroyer. So I wanted to show that. What I could do though, is paint a big marine gauntlet on the bottom of the ship and have the gun barrel represent the digit in a certain hand gesture that means 'fuddle duddle' ;)

Anyway, until the next update.

Well it's been a long time now hasn't it?

I got the Thunderhawk Gunship down off the WIP shelf and started to work on it again. But after looking the brick over, I started to rethink the gun placement and decided to go for the Republic Gunship look. So after an afternoon of work, I have two laser cannons and new top structure that you can see here:

Here is a side view giving a better look at the new gun positions.

As you can see, I removed the main gun from the front and covered it up with plating. This works better because there is now room for where the nose landing gear bay would go. More to come.

A small update with the Gunship.

In this case I was thinking about how to measure range with twin gun barrels? The solution was to build a targeting unit and position it between them. I have also started adding some amour plating as well as detail bits.

More to come as usual.
