Some space wolf help

THanks.

so, lone wolves, that works every well.

now.. i need ot decide on wolf guard choice. would using them with chainsword, storm bolter, (bolt pistol if tha tis somehow legal), make them a useful threat squad? able to move and fire at those who get too close and can't beat in close combat without whittling down, but can still shoot and assualt into close combat? since trying to come up with a decent way to make them useufl, but not too costly. that is one idea in my head, and wanted to get people's opinion on it before i did anything.

as for fast attack, i was thinking of either thunderwovles(huge point sink, but satisifying when the wovles tear their way through a group), swift claws, and maybe a pack of two fo wolves. the wolves would be used as scoutgs and the first wave while the grey hunters moved up. the wolves would be used to engage targets that woudl otherwise shoot at my wolves, as you can't shoot from a close combat. i don;t know if this is space wolfy. since i am trying to play to the core of our style, and not be a power gamer. I want to have fun, not crush the enemy's spirits and hopes. well, the oppsoing player's hopes adn dreams. otherwise i woudl just be oplaying guard and feidling an emeperorer titan.

sorry for the rant.

any way, if i may ask, what is the best way to access target priority? that is, what enemy forces shoudl be taken out first? i am sure that this is much more situtional, but sure that there are some rough guidelines, or sagas that could give me a hint or two.

Okay.

next up, tactics with GHs.

Is it best to assualt with them when possible? Since we can move and fire, then assualt something a tactical squad can't do, or use rapid fire and take out the first rank, then counter charge. for counter charge though, i think that using a wolf priest or other leader to boost the leadership.

GH come with bolter, bolt pistol and CCW as standard, so you can fire with the pistol and then charge in (that's why flamers, nor more often meltas are the best special weapons as they are assault not RF)

Generally, if you do use wolf guard, then it's useful to equip them with a Power Fist and a combi-Bolter, as their natural 2 attack profile makes huge advantage of that. It allows them to instant kill other marine guys on impact and threaten limited armour. Just ideally, they would not be engaging armour in this manner anyways, though it's always handy to have a fist to kill unique charcters.

That being said, a wolf guard with Combi only costs 8 points more then a extra Hunter with Meltagun and offers superiour leadership to the pack and only costs 3 points more then a grey hunter with melta and fist. Wolf Guard are ideal for leading Grey Hunters in Rhinos to make them more effcient at counter attacking. A stormbolter on a single guy is wasted really since your losing the extra special weapon to put him in. He's also great at keeping two special weapons if a unique charcter is riding with a 8 Man Grey Hunter Squad.

Often, the wolf guard is a great option, whether you chose to take the fist or not. Just requires a combi-weapon as standard to replace that 10th hunter.

okay, thanks.

so, wolf guard, bolt pistol or bolt gun and powerfist, right? luckily, i happen to have a few models. woudl have to add on the combi bits, but can do that later. and i was thinking of a squad of wolf guard with bolters, say a 7 man squad or so?

as for wolf guard squads, what are suggested? if i may ask? since am trying to figure out what to take.

are 11 man gh squads on foot worth taking? that is 10 gh with one wolf guard worth taking? or is that jsut a waste of points?
